🌱 Organic September: Do You Need to Go 100% Organic with fruit and vegetables? 🌱
Choosing organic isn’t always simple (or affordable!) — and the good news is, you don’t always have to.
Some fruits and vegetables are more likely to carry pesticide residues than others, depending on how they’re grown. Each year, the Environmental Working Group (EWG) publishes the Dirty Dozen (produce with the highest residues) and the Clean Fifteen (produce with the lowest).
✨ Dirty Dozen (best to buy organic if possible):
🍓 Strawberries
🥬 Spinach
🍑 Nectarines
🍏 Apples
🍑 Peaches
🟢 Peas
🍒 Cherries
🍇 Grapes
🥒 Tomatoes
🌿 Celery
🌶️ Bell Peppers
🥔 Potatoes
✨ Clean Fifteen (usually lower in residues, so safer non-organic):
🌽 Sweet corn
🥑 Avocados
🍍 Pineapples
🥬 Cabbage
🧅 Onions
🟢 Sugar snap peas
🍈 Papayas
🌱 Asparagus
🥭 Mangos
🍆 Aubergine
🍈 Melon (Honeydew & Cantaloupe)
🥝 Kiwi
🥦 Cauliflower
🍊 Grapefruit
💡 Top Tip: If buying organic isn’t possible for everything, focus on choosing organic versions of the Dirty Dozen first. For non-organic produce, a good vegetable wash can help remove some residues.
👉 Remember — eating more fruit and veg (organic or not) is always better than not eating them at all!
