Grab your whilst you can! I pick generally as the are starting to go over, and I only ever take a few flowers from each plant, so that the pollinators have lots of nectar. 💙

Dehydrate in a dehydrator or on a very low oven (preferably with the door slightly ajar) or a sunny windowsill. You can then use for any application you like throughout the winter. 😊

More ripening goodies on the way. This time ! Hawthorn Berries are packed with goodness and have been shown to be incredibly good for the heart and cardiovascular system. ❤️

🚨 Hawthorn Berries can be eaten raw, but be mindful of the tiny stone in the middle and most importantly do not eat more than a few berries as they do contain low levels of cyanide. 🚨 Heating and/or dehydrating the berries does remove the cyanide content so I tend to use my berries in recipes that require a lil cooking or indeed I dehydrate them. You can make ketchup, syrups and sauces and strain out the seeds. You can also use the fresh berries to make . and also dehydrate the Hawthorn . Dried Hawthorn Berries are great for herbal teas. ☕️

You can also freeze some so that you have a stash until next autumn! 😊

Dog Rose are starting to ripen. 🌹

You can enjoy them fresh, although the hairs and seeds inside can be a little unpalatable, so I tend to make syrups, or which means they can then be strained out. Or you can cut the Rose Hips in half and scoop the hairs/seeds out. If you plan on deseeding your Rose Hips, it might be easier/more worthwhile for you to collect larger ones so you end up with more ‘shell’ or flesh...

Personally, I find the easiest way to deseed is to start warming them up, (either in a dehydrator, or in your oven on the lowest heat, or in the sun on a hot day), so the skin is softer, and you can pull them apart and scrape the insides out. It is a little messy, but I find it easier to do it this way so I thought I would share how I do it in case it helps someone! As well as making a syrup from the fresh ones, I always dehydrate some of mine. I do also dehydrate some Rose Hips in tact/whole as they can still be using herbal teas and recipes and they make a pretty decoration for Christmas and on cakes for example. 😃

Well, this is interesting: https://tinyurl.com/bddbtyz2 🧐

The urine needs to be diluted and ‘aged’ before you use it as a fertiliser, but what a great way to reduce waste and improve the health of your plants naturally! 🌱

Of course, you need to be prepared to ahem… collect it for dilution and to age it, so perhaps only for those that don’t mind this task! 😆

Beautiful or has been out for a while now and the are LOVING it and I am loving watching them and the subsequent in the evenings. Very grateful to have such a buzzing . 😊

I have spoken a few times about (my newly) discovered benefits of this and particularly the petals soothing wound healing abilities. I highly recommend that you do some research yourself. Thanks to this community, I learned about its medicinal properties - and thank you, you know who for encouraging me to do more research. 🥰

Again, these grow very prolifically, so are great for ground coverage in the , although you may want to keep on top of them to prevent spreading! They are great for grabbing for though and look lovely as a garnish. 😊

Sage can also be used for reasons and in , and I am going to make some this year from my patch in the (photo), and I highly recommend that you consider growing too. It is very easy to grow in full or partial sun, incredibly hardy and is such a useful herb to have on hand. 😊

Lots more ! 🤍

This plant is ace, the leaves and flowers are greatly beneficial and it can be easily incorporated into your diet and now is the perfect time to pick. I pick the flowers when they are in full bloom (often on sunnier days!) for maximum flavour 😊
