FND Peer Support Hi,
My Name is Karla. I was diagnosed with FND in December 2023, and like many of you, I am sure, it turned my life upside down in a heartbeat.

This support page has been developed to assist individuals and carers of those diagnosed with Functional Neurological Dissorder (FND), share common issues and come together to support each other. Since the beginning of symptoms to gaining an official diagnosis took approximately 6 months however, since diagnosis, it was evident that the hard work was only just beginning. I Suffer with seizures on a daily basis (anywhere up to 17 in one night), require the use of a wheel chair and i am no longer able to drive
I found that from diagnosis, there was very little support for those that are affected, especially at a local level, and wanted to firstly set up a facebook community and a physical peer support group for those diagnosed, and also for those carrying out the caring roles.

We would like to thank everyone who attended our Christmas fayre at the old England yesterday.
We had a good turn out and lots of stalls for everyone to enjoy. We even had a couple of visitors as you can see from the photos.
After all the counting has finished, we manage to raise a massive £1000, all in aid of the Functional Neurological Disorder Peer Support Group.
The funds are there to support individuals with FND, their carers, family and wider support network an providing a fortnightly coffee morning in chester le street and soon to start in spennymoor too.
