When we find ourselves worrying, how many thoughts start with “what if” or include words such as might, possibly or if only. This results in a never ending list of possibilities. By engaging in this worry, we focus in on what we can’t control, resulting in more anxiety and stress. Through keeping our focus on what is within our control, we can reduce anxiety and not feel consumed with various outcomes that may never come into fruition.

Happy New Year everyone. Whilst I am not officially open until tomorrow, I couldn’t let today pass unnoticed as it is one year since I opened Laura Williams CBT. Mental health is something we all have and refers to our emotional, psychological and emotional wellbeing.
Mental illness is different to having poor mental health. It is an illness that impacts how we think, feel and behave. A mental illness can have a significant impact on a person. It can be easy to try to support people with mental health and not with mental illness. Healthy habits, diet and exercise can all help with mental health. Speaking to a GP, local IAPT service or therapist are all positive first steps for a mental illness.
