4 Ways to Make Peace with Overwhelming Emotions
https://buff.ly/P59oycJ

Neuroscience tells us that each emotion only lasts 90 seconds. Adrenaline, cortisol, stress chemistry — all rise, peak, and fade in about a minute and a half. ⏰

So why do we stay angry for hours, anxious for days, or sad for weeks?
Because we keep feeding emotions with the same thoughts — over and over and over. So, you stay angry, hurt, and depressed. 😖

The thing I want you to know is that you are doing it to yourself. More importantly, you CAN also stop it. You can learn to make peace with your emotions — and even let them teach you — by taking a mindful pause, turning toward them with awareness, and doing something to interrupt the cycle. Here are four ways to do that.👍

No one really talks about how messy the in-between feels. Where you’re not who you were, but you’re not who you’ll become.

You’re just... here. In the middle. Figuring out how to navigate the desert.

It’s not like you’ve failed. But that doesn’t make it feel any less heavy. You’re just in the process.

Confusing? Yes.
Miserable? Kinda.

And all there really is to do is let go of what you used to be and wait for the new thing to show up.

It’s okay to let go of the past calling you back. To quiet down all the old stories trying to keep you safe.

You can trust the process. Where things fall apart and start to rebuild.

No rush. Just walking through it one shaky step at a time. Breath by breath. One choice at a time.

And eventually, you’ll look up and realize you’re there.

But until then, be fully here.

Ever wondered why worries can feel so overwhelming?

Today we’re zooming in on the brain – specifically, the amygdala. This tiny part of the brain plays a huge role in how children experience fear, stress and anxiety.

Let’s talk about Term 6.

It’s a tough one. Really tough.
It’s the longest term of the year. Temperatures are high. Everyone’s tired – adults and children alike.

But for our young people, there’s even more going on.

They’re starting to feel it…
The endings. The goodbyes. The looming changes that September will bring.
New classes. New teachers. Maybe new schools. It’s a lot – even if they can’t quite put it into words.

You might notice more emotional outbursts at home.
Or a total shutdown after school.
That’s not you doing something wrong – it’s after-school restraint collapse.
They’ve been holding it together all day. And you’re their safe place.

So what can help?

Slow things down.
Stick to familiar routines.
Lower your expectations at home – and raise your connection.
Be gentle – with them, and with yourself.

Term 6 asks a lot of our young people. Let’s give them what they really need:
Safety, predictability, and room to feel what they’re feeling.

You’ve got this. And so do they.
