It's !

Let's talk about a common signal from the body, especially if you're managing Type 2 Diabetes: Feeling thirsty all the time?

This persistent thirst, known as polydipsia, isn't just about needing a drink. When blood sugar levels run high, your kidneys go into overdrive trying to filter and remove the excess glucose through urine. This process pulls water from your body, leading to dehydration and that constant feeling of thirst. It's a clear sign your body is working hard and blood sugars likely need better management.

Don't just constantly refill your water glass – it's time to address the root cause. Your body is crying out for help to get those glucose levels back in balance.

Ready to take action?

A great first step is to chat about your specific situation. I offer a FREE, no-obligation 30-minute support session exclusively for those with Pre-Diabetes or Type 2 Diabetes. Let's discuss how you can tackle the root cause.

As it's mental health awareness week this week, I'd like to share with you a fabulous song, by one of my favourite female artists.
"War Paint" was inspired by her experience of losing a friend to mental illness.

Here's an unplugged version, which is even more moving - https://youtu.be/DCQnV1mNWZk

For those of you that know my story specifically in relation to my younger brother, you'll understand why I can relate to the song (if you are on LinkedIn you can find out more about my story here: https://lnkd.in/gJYsHAbV) 😢

"It's ok to not be ok, and it is ok to talk about not being ok".

Enjoy. 💚❤

It's !

Time to tackle a particularly persistent and unhelpful myth that can unfortunately deter people from taking positive steps for their health.

The Myth: People with Type 2 Diabetes shouldn't exercise.

The Reality: This could not be further from the truth!

In fact, burying this myth is essential, because the scientific evidence is overwhelming: Regular physical activity is absolutely crucial for managing Type 2 Diabetes and Pre-Diabetes effectively.

Why is exercise so important? Let me count the ways!

> Improved Insulin Sensitivity: Regular activity makes your body's cells more responsive to insulin. This means insulin can do its job better, helping glucose move from your bloodstream into your cells for energy.
> Direct Glucose Uptake: Your muscles can actually pull glucose out of your bloodstream for fuel during and after exercise, even without needing as much insulin. This has a direct positive impact on blood sugar levels.
> Weight Management: Exercise helps burn calories and build muscle, both of which aid in achieving and maintaining a healthy weight, further improving insulin sensitivity.
> Heart Health: Physical activity strengthens your heart and improves circulation, helping to reduce the risk of cardiovascular problems, which are a common concern with Type 2 Diabetes.
> Mood Boost: Exercise is a fantastic stress reliever and mood enhancer!

"Exercise" doesn't have to mean intense workouts or running marathons (unless you want to!).

It's about finding forms of movement you enjoy and can stick with regularly. Brisk walking, swimming, cycling, dancing, gardening, or even chair-based exercises if mobility is limited – it all counts! Consistency is the real key.

Of course, it's always sensible advice, especially if you are new to exercise or have other health conditions, to chat with your doctor before starting a new routine. Depending on the medications you might be taking (like insulin or certain tablets), you may also need to learn how to monitor your blood sugar levels around exercise times, but this is manageable with the right guidance.

Integrating regular movement into your life is a fundamental part of a successful strategy for managing Pre-Diabetes and Type 2 Diabetes. My free resources are here to support you in building a healthier lifestyle:

Understanding the symptoms of undiagnosed Type 2 Diabetes is crucial for early detection and management. Today, let's focus on blurred vision.

High blood sugar levels can cause the lens in your eye to swell, leading to temporary changes in your vision. These changes might make it difficult to focus clearly on objects or text, and your vision may fluctuate throughout the day. The blurriness typically improves when blood sugar levels return to normal.

Why It Matters
Blurred vision can be a sign of undiagnosed Type 2 Diabetes. If you notice these changes in your vision, it's important to monitor your blood sugar levels and seek medical advice. Early detection can help manage and even reverse Type 2 Diabetes, preventing further complications.

Practical Tip
If you experience blurred vision, try to keep track of when it occurs and how long it lasts. This information can be helpful for your healthcare provider in determining the cause and the best course of action.

Welcome to Fabulous !

Today, let's dive into the importance of smart shopping for managing your blood sugar levels.

Smart Shopping: The Hidden Sugars
When managing Type 2 Diabetes, it's crucial to be aware of hidden sugars in the foods you buy.

Many products contain sugars that can cause unexpected blood sugar spikes, and these sugars often end in '-ose' (like fructose, dextrose, and sucrose).

Checking labels for these hidden sugars can help you make better choices.

Why It Matters
Sugars ending in '-ose' are simple carbohydrates that can quickly raise your blood sugar levels.

Consuming these sugars in large amounts can make it harder to manage your diabetes. By aiming for products with less than 5g of total sugar per serving, you can better control your blood sugar levels and avoid those unexpected spikes.

Practical Tip
Next time you're shopping, take a moment to read the labels.

Look for hidden sugars and choose products with lower sugar content. This small habit can make a big difference in your overall health.

Remember, fresh and whole foods are often the best choices, as they are less likely to contain added sugars.

Support and Guidance
Navigating these changes can be challenging, but you don't have to do it alone.

Today, let's talk about the importance of sleep in managing Type 2 Diabetes.

Schedule Your Sleep Success
Did you know that consistent sleep patterns play a crucial role in regulating blood sugar levels and managing hunger hormones?

Poor sleep can increase insulin resistance and make blood sugar control more challenging.

Setting a consistent bedtime and wake-up time, aiming for 7-8 hours of sleep, and creating a relaxing bedtime routine without screens for the last hour before bed can make a significant difference.

Practical Tip
To improve your sleep quality, establish a routine that works for you.

This might include activities like reading a book, meditating, or taking a warm bath before bed. Avoiding screens in the last hour before sleep can help your body wind down and prepare for restful sleep.

Support and Guidance
Navigating these changes can be challenging, but you don't have to do it alone.

Hello everyone, and welcome to !

There's a persistent question I encounter frequently, often laced with a bit of fear: "If I have Type 2 Diabetes, does that mean fruit is completely off the menu?"

It's a common belief, almost a dietary commandment for some, that the natural sugars in fruit make it forbidden territory.

Well, let's put that myth firmly to rest.

The fact is, fruit can and often should be part of a balanced and healthy diet, even when you're managing Pre-Diabetes or Type 2 Diabetes.

Now, I understand where the confusion comes from.

Fruit does contain sugar, primarily fructose. However, unlike the refined sugars found in processed foods and sugary drinks, the sugar in whole fruit comes naturally packaged with a wealth of beneficial components: fibre, vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants.

That fibre is particularly crucial – it slows down the absorption of sugar into your bloodstream, helping to prevent the rapid spikes in blood glucose levels that we aim to manage.

The key is appropriate consumption. This means being mindful of portions – think a small apple, a handful of berries, or half a grapefruit, rather than consuming vast quantities at once. It also generally means choosing whole fruits over fruit juices (which strip away the fibre and concentrate the sugar) or large amounts of dried fruit. Some fruits also have a lower impact on blood sugar than others (lower Glycemic Index), like berries, cherries, and plums, which can be useful choices.

So please, don't feel you need to avoid fruit entirely! It offers too many health benefits to be unnecessarily demonised. It’s about understanding how to incorporate it wisely into your overall eating plan.

Navigating these dietary nuances can feel overwhelming sometimes, I know. That's why I've put together some resources I genuinely believe can help. My FREE Type 2 Diabetes Management guide pack offers practical advice and strategies for managing your condition effectively – you can download it here: https://www.diabetessolutions.co.uk/free-guide-pack

And if you're looking for inspiration on how to include fruit and other healthy ingredients in your meals, you'll find plenty in my FREE 120+ healthy recipes pack, available at: https://www.diabetessolutions.co.uk/free-recipes (Just a quick note – if you have nut allergies, please always check ingredient lists carefully, as some recipes may contain nuts).

Finally, for those of you managing Pre-Diabetes or Type 2 Diabetes who might want a more personal chat about your specific situation, I offer a FREE 30-minute support session (usually worth £75). We can talk over the phone or remotely. Book your free session here: https://www.diabetessolutions.co.uk/free-support

Hello everyone! It's .

Let's talk about something really important: recognising the signs of undiagnosed Type 2 Diabetes.

One of the key symptoms to be aware of is persistent fatigue and weakness. When your body isn't able to use glucose for energy efficiently, you might find yourself feeling tired even after rest.

This isn't just ordinary tiredness; it can affect your daily activities and make even simple tasks feel overwhelming. Often, this fatigue is accompanied by a general feeling of weakness, and it might be particularly noticeable after meals.

It's so important to listen to your body and not dismiss these symptoms. If you're concerned, it's always best to seek advice and support.

If any of this resonates with you, or if you have any concerns, I'm here to help.

I offer a FREE 30-minute, no-obligation support session where we can discuss your concerns and explore the best steps forward for you.

You can book a session here: https://www.diabetessolutions.co.uk/free-support.

Remember, early detection and management are key to living a healthier life.
