At both our Littlehampton and Chichester branches, we are welcoming members of our community to stop by for a complimentary tea, coffee, or cold drink whenever they need one ☀️

Director’s Day With Sophie 💜

Yesterday, I took some time to recognise two very special parts of our team, one of our longest-standing carers and one of our newest. A quiet reminder that every journey matters, whether you have been with us for years or are just getting started.

Director’s Day is something I set aside each month. There is no big agenda, just time to connect. To listen, share stories, and really get to know the incredible people who make South Coast what it is.

I have always believed leadership should feel approachable. Not distant or intimidating, but supportive, open, and real.

For me, it is about building genuine relationships, understanding my team, and creating an environment where everyone feels seen, heard, and valued.

Because when you truly connect with your team, everything else follows. That is something that will always sit at the heart of South Coast Home Care 💜

Warmer days are coming ☀️

As we begin to see a little more sunshine and longer, lighter days, it is always such a lovely time of year. But with that, it is also important to be a little more mindful, especially when it comes to the people we care about most.

For many individuals, particularly older adults, warmer weather can feel more overwhelming than enjoyable. Small changes in routine can make a real difference in helping someone feel comfortable, safe, and well.

Stay hydrated
Encourage regular drinks throughout the day. Little and often can be much easier than large amounts at once, even if there is no feeling of thirst.

Keep cool and comfortable
Closing curtains during the warmest parts of the day, wearing lighter clothing, and finding shaded or cooler areas at home can help prevent overheating.

Eat well and lightly
Lighter meals and foods with a high water content, such as fruit, can support both hydration and energy levels without feeling too much.

It is often the small, thoughtful things that make the biggest difference. A quick check-in, a reminder to have a drink, or simply being there can offer real reassurance.

March has been a busy and meaningful month across South Coast Home Care, filled with moments of connection, community, and continued growth.

⭐ Community & Giving Back
We have been blown away by the support for our Bra Bank initiative, with so many generous donations coming in. It is amazing to see something so simple make such a meaningful impact.

🎙️ Team Moments
This month, we stepped away from the day-to-day to take part in V2 Radio’s Battle of the Businesses. It was a brilliant experience, full of laughter, teamwork, and a little bit of friendly competition.

🤝 Learning & Collaboration
We were lucky to welcome Lindsey from Enable, who shared valuable insight into the support available for individuals and families. It was a really helpful session for our team.

👶 Special Visits
We also had a very special visitor, as Chantelle introduced her beautiful baby boy to some of our clients. A moment that brought so many smiles and reminded us how special our community really is.

🌿 Building Connections
Sophie has been out meeting with local organisations, including Chichester District Council and AIBO, continuing to build relationships and explore ways we can support more people across our community.
