Missed our latest CPD workshop? Don't worry, we're running it again in May!

Exploring outcomes in dramatherapy
Wednesday 20th May, 6.30pm-8pm

Exploring Outcomes in Dramatherapy is an interactive, online workshop that will encourage participants to explore what they consider as outcomes in dramatherapy practice. The workshop will consist of some learning through powerpoint, some personal reflection, and some group discussion. There will be a mix of verbal and creative learning. This workshop is suitable for any dramatherapists (as well as art therapists, music therapists, and any psychotherapists/counsellors working creatively) who are currently working with clients or hoping to work with clients in the future.

By the end of this workshop, you will have a clearer idea of:
• How to distinguish and develop outcomes
• How your work is impacted by desired outcomes of the client, the therapist, and any other organisations or relevant parties (e.g., parents)
• How you might measure outcomes
• How you can communicate outcomes

About the facilitator
Marissa qualified in Drama and Movement Therapy (Sesame) (MA) from the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama in 2017, and as an Autism Practitioner from University College London in 2022. She currently works as a Mental Health Adviser at Anglia Ruskin University, and is an Experiential Group Leader for their Dramatherapy training MA. She also works freelance as a therapist, mental health consultant, and supervisor. Marissa is a published researcher, and a Professional Doctorate student investigating the use of outcome measurement in Higher Education Institution mental health provisions.

We are one of over 30 organisations and individuals who have signed the joint statement which has gained support from stakeholders across the mental health sector.

The number of adults seeking support for anxiety is rising. Despite NHS Talking Therapies receiving almost half a million presenting complaints of either anxiety or stress related disorders in 2022-23, less than half of people that access treatment via NHS Talking Therapies reliably recover from their presenting issue.

The campaign is asking NICE to update the guideline so that it:

- aligns with other updated guidelines and latest diagnostic criteria

- includes guidance for addressing barriers to access for marginalised and hard-to-reach people

- increases the number of therapies available for anxiety to improve patient choice

- considers a broader range of high-quality evidence on treating anxiety, including service user experience, long-term and follow-up studies

We look forward to continuing this work with UKCP and other campaign partners to ensure that every person accessing NHS support for generalised anxiety disorder and panic disorder receives timely, appropriate and high-quality care.

You can read more about the campaign’s key asks on UKCP’s website.

You can support the campaign by asking your MP to sign the joint letter to NICE here:

We are still reflecting on the profound impact of our recent conference in Glasgow, 'Shadows to Strength'

This evocative drawing, created by our member , beautifully captures the essence of our time together. It speaks to the journey of letting go and the quiet hope of becoming—moving through the shadows toward a new kind of strength. It was a truly thought-provoking programme that we won’t soon forget.
