Stress can show up in ways you might not expect.

➡️ Waking up exhausted even after a full night’s sleep.
➡️ Snapping at your partner or children over something small.
➡️ Lying in bed replaying the day instead of switching off.

It’s not because you’re failing. The stress you feel is often a response to carrying too much, for too long.

We’ve put together a page on how stress shows up for women, why it can feel so hard to shift, and some of the ways you can begin to ease it.

Have you noticed how stress shows up in your life?

➡️ Waking up already tired before the day has even begun.
➡️ A mind that races through to-dos when you try to rest.
➡️ Keeping everything together on the outside while feeling stretched thin inside.

It’s not because you’re doing something wrong. The stress you feel is often a reasonable response to demands that are constant, complex, and not always seen or supported.

On our website we explore:
👉 What stress really feels like
👉 How it shows up in the body and relationships
👉 First steps you might find useful

You’re doing so much - but still feel like you’re falling short.

When your worth feels like something you have to earn, rest and satisfaction can feel out of reach.

It doesn’t have to stay that way.
Our latest blog explores ‘why nothing I do ever feels enough’ and how to begin finding your way back to yourself.

No-one else might know that you’re
😨 constantly on edge
😨 replaying conversations over and over
😨 full of dread inside

These are forms of anxiety too.

It doesn’t always look dramatic or obvious.

But it deserves care.

💬 We’ve written a gentle guide to help you understand anxiety in women:

Anxiety doesn’t always look like panic attacks or racing thoughts.

Sometimes it looks like:
– Replaying a conversation on loop
– Struggling to switch off, even when you’re exhausted
– Constantly needing to plan, control, or “get it right”
– Feeling irritable, wired, or shut down
– Going through the motions with a deep sense of dread underneath

It’s not just in your head. And you’re not making it up.

Anxiety is often shaped by your nervous system, your history, and the pressures around you.

We’ve written a gentle guide that explains more – what anxiety is, how it shows up, and what can help.

You can read it here: theapsychology.co.uk/anxiety (or via our Therapy page on our website - main link in bio)

Some of us are tired in a way that sleep doesn’t touch.

In this interview with Natural Progression, I spoke about burnout in midlife – how it builds quietly, why it’s so hard to stop, and the deeper cost of always pushing through.

It’s not just about doing too much.
It’s about who we’ve been taught to be.
The quiet cost of never letting ourselves stop.

Check it out if this resonates.

Overthinking often looks like trying to make things better by going over them again and again in your head.

- You replay conversations.
- Think through decisions from every possible angle.
- Try to think your way through difficult feelings.

It can feel like we’re being self-aware or getting things right.

But it’s actually often a way of trying to manage big or unwanted feelings without having to actually feel them.

And the paradox is that instead of bringing us clarity or calm, it usually leaves us anxious, unsettled and disconnected from ourselves.

In Thea Psychology’s latest blog, we explore why overthinking happens, how it keeps us stuck, and how to begin to get out of our heads and more into our bodies and the present moment.

If it resonates, the link’s in the bio.

I’ve been noticing lately how we don’t put pressure on the things we don’t care about.

We put pressure on the things we love.

Parenting. Work. Health. Being a good friend.

It’s amazing how easily care can become pressure.

It can leave you anxious, resentful, and unsure where you end and others begin.

In the latest blog, we explore:
🌀 Why people-pleasing develops
