Good morning! One thing I get asked a lot is how the Counselling process works, and so I thought I’d put together this little infographic to show it.
It starts with a message - and this can often be the hardest part to do. We often hear how asking for help is a sign of weakness and we should just ‘get on with it’; but this can take such a toll, mentally and physically. Mental and emotional stress can have real detrimental effects on the body, believe me I know from experience!
We can then get together for a quick chat, where we get to know one another and see if I’m the right fit for you. You’re under no obligation to continue, and can change your mind at any time.
If you decide to go ahead, we can book in a session for a time that works for you. Your first session will be a gentle exploration of why you’ve come for Counselling, and can often be quite emotional. There’s no judgement in that space; just calm, supportive listening.
Ongoing support will be for as long as you need it. There’s no expectation on frequency or number of sessions; some need only a few to work through a particular event, some need more long term support. Either way, we go at a pace that works for you.
