Mya from G-Fitness put us all through our paces, as we took part in her exercise session before chilling out with some Halloween themed Tai Chi! Who knew exercise could be such fun πŸ˜€

The wait was finally over ... as we unveiled our newly refurbished lounge. Resident's loved the new colour scheme and declared the chairs as 'really comfortable'. One said that we should be entering the room to win an award as they thought it was that good! πŸ˜€ Huge thanks to our wonderful maintenance team, Richard & Lee, for all their hard work redecorating & to Nicola for her design inspiration - we couldn't have done it without you!!

It was national chocolate day yesterday, so of course we had to have a chocolate themed quiz at Supper Club, together with chocolates for dessert and chocolates as the prizes for the winner! Trickiest question of the night was which part of a chocolate bunny do over 60% of people eat first? ... the answer was the Ears!! πŸ˜€

Monday was International Chef's Day and this year was all about inviting children to embark on a culinary adventure, discovering the joys of cooking, the importance of healthy eating, and the value of sustainable practices.

Our Chef, John, joined Chefs worldwide when he held a workshop and shared his knowledge with children from Barley Barkway Federation First School . After a morning spent learning how to wash, chop & grate vegetables safely, everyone then enjoyed the homemade pasta sauce featuring the 9 different vegetables they'd prepared earlier!!

We enjoyed another visit from the wonderful Riley - thanks again for all the time you spend with us - it's clear how much we all love to see you!!

We had a GREAT time with Sue & Julie from Line Groove as they showed us how to line dance. Staff enjoyed putting on a performance as we tried to learn the moves and residents enjoyed watching and taking part! It was a really fun afternoon and we can't wait until the next session when hopefully we will be a bit better πŸ˜€

We appreciate our wonderful staff team all year round πŸ˜€- but it was great to be able to put on a special evening for them. Along with food, drink and a bit of music, we also gave each member of the team a raffle ticket on arrival and then drew tickets for them to win a mix of great prizes during the evening..... We all had a lovely time & have already decided this needs to be an annual event!πŸ˜€

Today is National Activity Providers Association National Arts in Care Homes Day and we had a fantastic time with our Buddies at Barley Barkway Federation First School and Creative Mojo Bishops Stortford making a wonderful picture together. Art is so good at bringing people together to have fun and it is amazing what you can make from scraps of paper and fabric!! πŸ˜€

We enjoyed a lovely day out at Forty Hall when we joined our friends at Carers Stepping Out for another one of their wonderful walks. We strolled around the grounds, met 'Banksy' the Stepping Out dog and shared a sociable lunch. It was particularly special for one resident as she used to live in Enfield - she relived great memories about her time there!

Margaret House is in the running again for a prestigious national award!πŸ˜€
We have been shortlisted for the Best Initiative in Care Award in the eighth annual Caring UK Awards, which recognise excellence and achievement within the care sector across the UK. Caring UK Awards event director Dominic Musgrave said: β€œThe Caring UK Awards are now in their eighth year and with more entries than ever before, our finalists really have reason to celebrate too as it’s a huge achievement to have made the shortlist and is testament to the teams behind each.”
The awards are sponsored by Virgin Money and the winners will be revealed at a glittering awards ceremony at The Athena in Leicester on Thursday, December 4 when the industry will gather to salute all that is great about the care sector.
