We were delighted to welcome Jean Allinson from Garden House Hospice Care to Margaret House. She told us all about the amazing work that they do and then Gail Kelly presented her with £400 we had raised for them at our recent charity raffle. Garden House is one of the charities our residents had chosen they wanted to support this year with our fundraising activities.

The final amount raised by our raffle was an amazing £800! This is going to be split equally between Barley Community Garden and The Garden House Hospice. We would like to say a HUGE thank you to all the local businesses that donated prizes - we couldn't have done it without you : The Fox & Hounds Barley, Kingsway Golf, Buntingford Fryer, The Cheese Plate, Buntingford Coffee Shop, Hot Numbers, Jolly Postie, Velvet Rose, Royston FC, Pamper MeMe and Royston Community Police.

We had a wonderful afternoon when over 120 relatives, residents and staff got together for our annual Summer BBQ. As well as enjoying great food and live music, we also raised over £600 for charity with our raffle. Huge thanks to the Mayor of Royston for joining us and picking the winning tickets and to all the residents of Barley who kindly supported us by buying tickets - there were several village winners!

FUN FRIDAY - We started the day with an art workshop with Creative Mojo Bishops Stortford creating beautiful feathers for our peacock. Then it was "eyes down" for prize bingo this afternoon for residents & staff. Lots of competitive fun, with the residents winning the majority of the prizes⭐🎨🤩

Please support our charity raffle if you can - as we are raising funds for two very deserving causes: Barley Community Garden and also the Garden House Hospice.

Tickets will be available to purchase from the village shop from Friday and we already have some great prizes, with more promised - so please take £5 with you when you next go in to help us raise as much money as possible!!

Your support for these two very good causes would be hugely appreciated.

It was a lovely, but slightly sad afternoon, as we said a fond farewell to our Year 4 buddies at Barley Barkway Federation First School as they prepare to move on to their next school, and to Mrs Brown. We enjoyed a final session of tea and cakes, plus we couldn't resist a quick bit of artwork, before presenting them with good luck cards the residents had made for them and a Margaret House 'Buddy' badge. We are now looking forward to meeting the new years 3 & 4 in September!!

Our Story

Margaret House is a family run, luxury residential and dementia care home set in two acres of beautiful landscaped gardens in a peaceful location next to the church in Barley, near Royston, Hertfordshire. Our home features en-suite rooms, some with wet rooms and all with flat screen TVs and wif-fi. Inside we have a cinema, hair salon, skype lounge, café area and Tovertafel magic table. Outside we have a greenhouse and raised beds, walkways around the grounds, a fully stocked pond and patio areas with seating in both sunny and shaded areas to ensure everyone can enjoy being outdoors when the weather is good. Our Health and Wellbeing team provide a wide range of activities to promote both physical and mental well being. However, it is our wonderful team of staff and their attitude- that care really means caring, that makes us stand out from other homes.
