Together, we developed the Herz Heritage Trail, an immersive digital experience spanning more than 50 historically significant locations across one of America’s most important immigrant neighborhoods.
Rather than creating a single standalone AR moment, the project focused on building an adaptive digital framework capable of connecting stories, archives, sacred spaces, and community memory across an entire urban landscape.

That approach reflects a growing shift in heritage technology: immersive tools are becoming less about novelty and more about long-term cultural access. Immersive technologies are a new way to share history, one that can reach people who might never walk those streets.

Some projects start with a brief. This one started with a conversation.

The Lower East Side Jewish Conservancy has spent decades preserving the sacred sites, synagogues, and stories of one of New York City’s most historically significant neighborhoods. They wanted to find a new way to share that history - one that could reach people who might never walk those streets.

We became their partners in figuring out what that could look like.

What followed was months of research, archive diving, site visits, and careful content-building across 50+ historic locations.

The result is the HerzHeritageTrail - an augmented and virtual reality experience that lets visitors step inside reconstructed spaces, hear oral histories, and explore a neighborhood’s living memory.
