As we move towards the summer months the weather is warmer, beaches and rivers are busy and people are drawn to the coolness of the water.

Float to live is the RNLI RNLI Clacton Lifeboat campaign to help people learn how to survive in the water until help comes.

Wonderful to see this group growing. Well done Shawn The mental health runner.

Exercise in any form is great for your mental health. Get outside and move. Fast or slow. Blue space or green space! 🌊🌳

Yesterday we had more than 20 people join our Walking for Wellbeing group in Colchester, led by the wonderful Shawn Leek, aka The mental health runner.

It was a lovely way to begin Mental Health Awareness Week and share one of the ways we’re supporting people in our community.

Our Walking for Wellbeing groups run every week:

📍 Colchester – Mondays, 11am
📍 Clacton – Wednesdays, 11am

No need to book, just turn up. Visit our website for more information: mnessexmind.org/get-support/support-groups/

Thank you to MarcusMovers for funding our Colchester group and helping make this weekly support possible.

Thank you to our volunteers Stacey and Shaunna for supporting Essex EcoTherapy this morning.

During this session we explored emotional release with a rewarding cold water dip and short swim!

We still have spaces left on our FREE pilot scheme where we are carrying out our research on the effects of cold water therapy for emotional and physical resilience.

🧜‍♀️ Important Update from Ware Priory Lido 🧜‍♂️

This morning’s early swimmers reported something a little unusual in the deep end…

After a quick investigation by the team, we can confirm that a small group of mermaids have taken up residence in the Lido.

They appear to be very friendly, enjoy the cold water sessions, and have been spotted practising their synchronised swimming in the quieter lanes.

Please note the following temporary pool rules while our new residents settle in:
• No feeding the mermaids (they seem to prefer local fish anyway).
• If you hear mysterious singing from the deep end, please do not attempt to harmonise unless you are confident in your pitch.

Our lifeguards are currently reviewing whether NPLQ covers aquatic mythical creatures, and we’ll update everyone once we know more.
