ALL ABOUT ME
About time I showed my face! So... this is what you get. This is how I usually show up - no make-up, frizzy hair, glasses on, probably a bit tired.
I am a counsellor, a mum, a singer, a musician, a teacher, and a bit of an oddball. I love good books, crochet, trashy TV, musicals, long walks, loud music, and doomscrolling past my bedtime.
I am a perinatal psychotherapist, which is unnecessary terminology for "I am a counsellor who specialises in working with mums". My drive to become a counsellor came from not being given the help I needed when I suffered birth trauma, PTSD, OCD, anxiety and postnatal depression. I wanted to become the help I couldn't find when I needed it. Being a mum is a job like no other and the process of becoming a mum can be f**king hard work! I'm here to help you untangle the chaos, feel less isolated, and get back to feeling a bit more 'you'.
I also work with teens/age 10+ and used to be a school counsellor. Alongside my private practice, I run a youth theatre and have over twenty years of experience working with teens in various settings (despite still feeling far too young to have this many years of teaching under my belt!). Being a teenager, juggling friends and family and school and work and hopes and dreams and pressure and expectations and learning to be an adult... It's not easy. Yes, I'm an adult. No, I won't judge you. Yes, you can swear. No, I won't tell your parents they've pi**ed you off. Yes, I will listen and keep you safe. No, you don't have to keep eye contact (or even keep your shoes on).
Nothing you bring to me ever needs prefixing with 'This may sound weird but...' or 'This is really strange but...' I LOVE the weird and strange things! (And there is no such thing as normal.)
I welcome you, however you walk into my room and whatever you bring with you. Life can be challenging and chaotic and messy and joyous and weird and wonderful and completely unpredictable. I welcome it all and I am here for you.
