🎀 Breast Cancer Awareness Month 🎀

As we continue our Cancer Awareness Campaign, this month we’re focusing on Breast Cancer.
Early detection can save lives – check your breasts regularly and know the symptoms:

✅ A lump or swelling in the breast or armpit
✅ Changes in the size, shape, or feel of the breast
✅ Dimpling or puckering of the skin
✅ Ni**le changes (inverted ni**le, discharge, or pain)
✅ Redness, rash, or skin changes around the ni**le

🌍 September Awareness Month 🌍
This September, Bethesda Medical Centre is focusing on raising awareness of Head and Neck Cancers.

👉 Be aware of the symptoms:

A persistent sore throat or hoarseness

Difficulty swallowing

A lump in the neck

Mouth ulcers that don’t heal

Unexplained weight loss

Ear pain or persistent earache

Changes in your voice

💡 If you notice any of these symptoms, don’t delay. Book an appointment with a Clinician as soon as possible. Early detection saves lives.

We are now taking bookings for autumn 2025 flu and COVID-19 vaccinations.

🗓️ When vaccinations start

Flu vaccine:
• Pregnant women and children aged 2–3 years can be vaccinated from September 2025
• All other eligible groups can be vaccinated from October 2025

COVID-19 vaccine: from October 2025

✅ Who can get the Flu Vaccine (Autumn 2025)

Aged 65 and over

Have certain long-term health conditions

Pregnant

Children aged 2–3 years

Residents in a care home

Main carer for an older or disabled person, or those receiving a carer's allowance

Living with someone who has a weakened immune system

✅ Who can get the COVID-19 Vaccine (Autumn 2025)

Aged 75 and over

Residents in a care home for older adults

Immunosuppressed adults (as defined in the UK Health Security Agency “Green Book”)

🌟 CQC Update – A Proud Milestone for Bethesda Medical 🌟

We are delighted to share that following our recent CQC inspection, Bethesda Medical has been rated Overall GOOD. ✅ This marks a significant achievement for our practice and reflects the dedication and hard work of our entire team.

Since receiving a "Requires Improvement" rating in 2019, we have made it our mission to raise standards across all areas of care. The progress we’ve made is a testament to the professionalism, teamwork, and commitment of our staff — and we’re incredibly proud of how far we’ve come.

Our journey doesn’t stop here. We remain focused on our patients and are committed to continually improving the quality of our services. We are working closely with the CQC to address the remaining areas for development, with a clear action plan and a six-month target in place.

You may have noticed the practice was closed for PLT afternoon yesterday — and here’s the reason why!

While all of our staff already complete annual Basic Life Support (BLS) training through a professional training company, we decided to take it a step further. Our experienced Lead Nurse Practitioner and Paramedic Practitioner ran an additional in-house, hands-on BLS session focused on both adult and pediatrics care.

This special session brought together our entire team — GPs, clinicians, nurses, admin, and reception staff — to refresh and enhance their life-saving skills. 💙

🚀 Bethesda Medical Centre delivered outstanding care in March! We provided a total of 3556 face-to-face appointments, broken down as follows:
• GP Appointments: 818
• New problems clinic, same day appointments: 1174
• Nursing Team appointments: 1352
• Physiotherapy: 121
• Mental Health Nurse: 91
We also ensured continued care through telephone consultations:
• GP Telephone Consultations: 805
• New problems clinic, same day appointments: 242
Every appointment was booked by our helpful reception team—whether by telephone, e-consultation, or face-to-face. Plus, we understand your busy schedule, so we offered around 96 hours of extended access until 8pm on Tuesday and Wednesday and an early opening at 7am on Friday.

🎗️ March Cancer Awareness Campaign 🎗️

After a hugely successful Cervical Screening Awareness Month in February, we are proud to announce that we booked 152 screening appointments, compared to 78 in January! 💙👏

We will continue working hard to promote early detection and encourage life-saving screenings throughout the year.

This March, we turn our focus to Testicular & Prostate Cancer Awareness—helping to educate, support, and encourage more men to check themselves and book important health screenings.
