News on next Wellness Walk

Happy Sunday, everyone! After chatting with a few of you, I’ve put together a route for our next walk on Sunday, 1st March that checks all the boxes.

We’ll be walking from Renishaw to Rother Valley and back - a total of approximately 8 miles. The terrain is "clean" underfoot, so sturdy trainers should be fine, though walking boots are always a safe bet as there is one small muddy section to navigate.

The Details:

Start Time: Meet at 9:00 am for a 9:30 am start.

✅Meeting Point: The small car park near The Sitwell Arms, Renishaw.

✅Pace & Timing: Based on our last outing, we expect to finish in about 3 hours.

✅Flexibility: If you don't fancy the full 8 miles, there are exit points about 3 miles in (near Killamarsh or inside Rother Valley) where someone could pick you up.

✅Facilities: Toilets are available at Rother Valley (note: these are about a mile off the main trail).

We’ll be heading into The Sitwell Arms for a well-deserved refreshment after the walk - it would be great if you could join us!

✅ Safety & Support:
As always, we’ll have first-aid-trained walkers with us. Depending on numbers, we’ll use walkie-talkies and a "back marker" to ensure no one is left behind.

Our last walk was brilliant despite the weather, with some fantastic conversation. If you’re planning to come along, please drop a comment below so we have an idea of numbers. Any questions, just ask!

Turning Up the Volume on Mental Health!

We’re thrilled to announce Music For The Mind, a brand-new service from the Elastic FM team launching this May!

✅What is it?

A 24/7/365 dedicated live stream of feel-good tracks, interspersed with expert mental health advice and resources.

✅Who is it for?

Everyone! While we’re focusing on supporting the Derbyshire community and spotlighting local mental health heroes, our free stream is available to anyone who needs a boost.

✅The Mission:

To use the proven power of music to help tackle anxiety and depression while building a supportive online community.

👉 Join the movement:

We’re looking for volunteers who come from a mental wellbeing background (who have been affected by mental health challenges) and who care about supporting our community!

Eventually, we want to mobilise a team of Mental Wellbeing initiatives, both physical and online, across the county.

Drop us a message if you want to help us grow.

Nutrition - The often forgotten piece of the recovery puzzle

When we talk about recovery from drug and alcohol dependency, we often focus on the mental and emotional work. While those are vital, there is a physical side to healing that is just as important - and it starts on your plate.

We are proud to announce that our new resource, "Eating Well In Recovery", is coming very soon.

Why did we create this?

For many, the journey to recovery involves repairing the body after years of strain. Nutrition isn't just about looking good; it’s about brain health, stabilising your mood, and regaining the energy you need to stay focused on your goals. But we know that eating healthy often feels like something reserved for people with a lot of time and a massive food budget.

What makes this guide different?

We wanted to strip away the wellness jargon and get back to basics. This guide is built on three main pillars:

Your Food Choices Matter: A clear look at how specific nutrients actually support the recovery process.

Simplifying Nutrition: No complicated recipes or "superfood" trends. Just simple, understandable advice on what your body needs to heal.

Healthy Eating on a Low Income: We know that financial stress is real. This guide provides practical tips on how to fuel your body well, without breaking the bank.

Recovery is a total life transformation. By focusing on good food nutrition, you aren't just eating; you are giving your body the tools it needs to sustain your sobriety and feel strong again.

We are currently putting the final touches to this guide to ensure it’s as helpful and practical as possible for those who need it most. If you know someone who is navigating their own recovery journey or a family member looking for ways to support a loved one, please share this post or tag them in the comments. We want to make sure this resource reaches every corner of our community. Keep an eye on this page - we’ll be announcing the official launch date and how to get your copy very soon.
