November is recognised for several important awareness campaigns — including Movember (men’s health), Lung Cancer Awareness Month, Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month, and National Hospice and Palliative Care Month.

All of these remind us how vital it is to look after our physical and emotional wellbeing and to find ways to live fully, even when facing difficult long-term health challenges.

Our course, Reclaim Your Life, is designed to help people living with long-term physical health conditions. It’s about remembering that your life is more important than your illness.

Through practical strategies, emotional tools, and supportive guidance, we’ll help you:
✅ Manage symptoms more effectively
✅ Cope with challenges in healthy, empowering ways
✅ Rediscover what brings you joy and meaning
✅ Get the fun back into your life

Because while your condition may be part of your story, it doesn’t have to define it.

Emerging research shows that Bouldering psychotherapy (BPT) can significantly reduce symptoms of depression and anxiety, with effects comparable to CBT

It promotes mindfulness, emotional regulation, and self-efficacy — all while engaging the body.

Bouldering psychotherapy (BPT) is a therapeutic approach that combines bouldering (a type of rock climbing) with psychotherapeutic methods like cognitive-behavioural therapy to treat conditions such as depression. The manualised program involves 10 weekly, two-hour group sessions led by trained climbing therapists, focusing on psychological topics relevant to the condition being treated, such as self-esteem and self-efficacy. The intervention integrates mindfulness, relaxation, cognitive-behavioural techniques, and specific bouldering exercises to help participants break negative thought patterns, improve physical and mental skills, and foster self-confidence in a social, action-oriented setting.

In The Huffington Post feature “The 1 Surprising Snack People Are Eating To Calm An Anxiety Spike,” psychologist Chris Williams notes that while there’s little scientific evidence linking sour sweets to anxiety relief, many people report that the intense, tangy flavour offers a quick distraction that can help ease the onset of panic. 🧗‍♀️ Bouldering for the Mind

At the recent EABCT Conference in Glasgow, Chris had the privilege of serving as discussant at a fascinating symposium led by Dr Steve Moorhead, exploring the mental health benefits of Bouldering Psychotherapy (BPT) — a form of climbing that’s as much about mindset as muscle.

Bouldering encourages individuals to approach challenges step-by-step, tolerate uncertainty, and build confidence... core principles in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).

Emerging research shows BPT can significantly reduce symptoms of depression and anxiety, with effects comparable to traditional CBT. It promotes mindfulness, emotional regulation, and self-efficacy ...all while engaging the body.

This month’s featured worksheet draws on the same metaphor: a visual “climbing wall” to help you map and tackle real-life problems, one hold at a time.
