Smear Information

From September, NHS plans to start sending results from the NHS Cervical Screening Programme, utilising the NHS App.

In September, those who have a negative test result will be notified of this by an NHS App message. It will also appear as an NHS App notification. If the NHS App message isn’t read within 72 hours, a letter will be sent as a failsafe.

Abnormal result letters will continue for the time being to be delivered by post.

Avoiding tick bites
When visiting green spaces, wear clothing that covers your skin and use insect repellent that includes DEET. Wearing light-coloured clothing can make ticks easier to spot and brush off.

After spending time outside, look for ticks on your skin, clothing, pets, and others. If you find an attached tick, remove it quickly using a tick-removal tool. If you know how to remove it safely you can also use fine-tipped tweezers.

If you have been bitten please be vigilant for Lyme disease or TBE symptoms particularly between 3 to 30 days after a bite.

Measles cases are rising in England.

It spreads easily and can cause serious illness, especially in babies, pregnant women and those with weak immune systems.

MMR vaccination is safe and offers lifelong protection.

Information
Large stones have been thrown at the back of the building at the surgery. Luckily this time there has been no damage to the property.
The Practice has CCTV to the front, back and side of the building. We are currently looking through our CCTV and the police have been notified of this incident.

Weight loss Drugs

You may have seen in the media that Tirzepatide weight loss injections (Mounjaro®) will be rolled out to the NHS in stages.

Phase 1, which is available from today, is ONLY for the people with the most serious health conditions.

To get Tirzepatide (Mounjaro®) on the NHS, you must have a Body Mass Index (BMI) of 40 or more, and have at least four of the following health problems:

o High blood pressure
o High cholesterol or fat levels in your blood
o Sleep apnoea (trouble breathing while sleeping)
o Heart disease
o Type 2 diabetes

NICE will complete a review of this phase in 3 years to determine the next steps.

Please DO NOT contact the surgery regarding weigh loss injection unless you are eligible.

Hot weather and thunderstorms can trigger symptoms in those who suffer with lung conditions such as asthma.

If you notice the weather makes your symptoms worse and you are needing to use your inhaler more frequently, please talk to your pharmacist, contact your GP or NHS 111.
