🌿 5 Simple Tips to Build Better Eating Habits (Without Being Restrictive)
If you’re trying to eat better but don’t want to feel like you’re on a diet, here are my top 5 tips to get started 👇
1. Start your day with protein.
Even if your first meal isn’t until 11am, keep it protein based rather than carb or sugar heavy (so maybe skip the cereal, toast or cereal bars).
Go for eggs, an omelette, poached eggs with avocado, or Greek yoghurt with berries and a sprinkle of nuts. You’ll stay full for longer and avoid that mid morning crash.
2. Keep hydrated.
So many of you don’t drink enough water and it’s one of the easiest things to fix. You’ll notice the difference in your energy, focus and even your cravings once you start.
3. Have a rough plan.
You don’t need to prep every meal, but have a general idea of what you’re going to eat. When we leave food to chance, hunger kicks in and we grab whatever’s easiest (usually biscuits).
4. Track what you’re eating.
We eat far more than we think, and just because something’s healthy doesn’t mean we can have endless amounts of it. Tracking helps you become more aware and make small changes that actually work.
5. Don’t deny yourself.
The moment we tell ourselves we can’t have something, it’s all we think about until we eventually cave and overeat it.
Instead, remind yourself it’s always there if you want it, then pause and ask…
Do I really want it?
Will I feel better after eating it or not?
That’s mindful eating in action.
Start with just one of these, get it nailed, then move on to the next. Small changes really do make a big difference.
