Hatha yoga teacher - sharing the beautiful practice of asana, pranayama, mantra & meditation β˜€οΈπŸŒ™ βœ¨πŸ•ŠοΈ

β€˜Yoga is like music, the rhythm of the body, the melody of the mind, and the harmony of the soul create the symphony of life.’ BKS Iyengar.

I love helping people connect with their innate power through realising their true wholeness. This only comes from feeling and experiencing our physicality. It’s absolutely vital!

We’ve been conditioned to think the mind conquers all and ignore so much vital information from our physical bodies.

Ask yourself are you so much in your mind you have forgotten about your body and ignoring what it wants to tell you?

I meet so many people who are struggling to meditate as they attempt to enter their mind space but find chaos and distraction or else they observe and witness patterns that disturb them.

While focusing the mind and β€˜becoming witness’ are techniques of meditation, you are a step ahead of yourself if you’ve skipped observing what your body wants to say and show you!

This is often the hardest part as it’s where our truth is locked up. Our emotions and intuition will communicate freely with us - but we must just tune into our body first.

Often we subconsciously skip that step as we know very well the pain and suffering we might unlock by acknowledging their existence.

Or maybe you are aware that you are experiencing pain or dis-ease from this locked up emotion. It can be very hard to read this even. I have been there myself so I know exactly how hard. (I feel you and I am here for you.πŸ’›)

But I can tell you that it’s possible to go slowly and connect with your physicality over time.

The first step is just realising the importance of feeling, over thinking.

That’s a huge step in itself! It’s that simple!!

Please feel free to DM if you need any support through this process.

Lots of love to you all. πŸ’œβœ¨πŸ˜ŒπŸ™πŸ»

Her womb is a sanctuary
Where we can undress and bathe in her love
Her heart holds our tremors of untold truths many centuries old
Her unimaginable intelligence designs darkness with beauty beyond words
Her love is the Divine lesson of patience and grace.

✨Just in awe! Everything comes at the most perfect time. ✨Without even planning - I arrived just in time to experience Nyepi - traditional new year in Bali!

The pulse of the island of gods is beating everywhere tonight! This is New Year’s Eve - locals warding off evil spirits before a national day of rest and meditation tomorrow.

Everything closes tomorrow for New Year’s Day - even the airport, electric is turned off and everyone stays home to rest and reflect in stillness.

This timing blows my mind. I could not have planned it this way if I tried!!

Ps. Watch video until very end!!! πŸ€πŸ˜†πŸ’₯βœ¨πŸ’›πŸ™πŸ»

✨You need to feel it to heal it! ✨.

Gentle movement and conscious breath are guiding lights for exploring sensations in our body. Approaching our physical limitations with loving awareness teaches us kindness towards our body and acceptance of any disharmony we are experiencing.

A safe and comfortable range of movement might only span a centimetre but even the smallest space will welcome a healing breath and release an outpouring of tension in return.

A sense of freedom arises when we discover we can move and breathe through pain and suffering. As we become more attuned to listening to our body, we realise our own ability to heal ourselves.

Butterfly pose has many physical and mental benefits. Both men and women enjoy improved hip flexibility, enhanced circulation and relief from lower back pain.

In women, this pose relieves menstrual cramps, pelvic pain and eases childbirth.

Butterfly pose also alleviates bloating, constipation and IBS. As with all yoga asanas, the benefits reach far beyond our physical body and offer insightful lessons on how to engage with life.

The transformation of the caterpillar to beautiful butterfly happens so naturally and gracefully. This asana teaches us to embrace change with calmness, courage and positivity.

The freeing movement and revitalising breath brings lightness, balance and endurance. Butterflies are a symbol of powerful transformation! Yet the process is gentle and graceful. πŸ›βœ¨πŸ¦‹

❣️ Please be aware!!! This asana should be practiced with absolute love and kindness towards your body. Imagine your vulnerable body part as an injured butterfly cupped in your hands. Please ensure to find a safe and comfortable range and do not push through pain - just setting an intention to offer love towards your body is more than enough for today! Please see steps below in comments! πŸ’›πŸ›βœ¨πŸ¦‹πŸ™πŸ»

Life is constantly changing. We don’t know what tomorrow holds. We don’t know if we will wake up. We can take waking up as a gift every single day and turn it into something beautiful. Create what our heart wants us to experience. Love in the way our heart feels our world around us. Share the joy that we feel in exploring our world. And stare into the sun in absolute awe of how it can all be so incredibly wondrous!

Yoga can look like a performance art. This is off-putting for so many people - they feel excluded due to age, body type, fitness level, affordability and many other reasons. But the truth is…

Yoga is actually a very intimate practice.

Through gentle movement, breath and sound - yoga provides an opportunity to connect with your own authentic energy.

With practice this this energy flows more freely, clearing blockages in the physical body and releasing tension in the mind. This promotes a feeling of being more in tune with your natural self.

Basic practices often create the most powerful shifts. It is easily accessible. Just bringing awareness to your breath alone can be so transformative.

Once you develop awareness of your natural flow, begin to breathe more deeply and move your body intuitively with your breath.

Find a position allowing you freedom of movement. Close your eyes and bring your awareness to the natural rhythm of your breath. Slowly begin to flow with your breath.

Allow your energy to guide you, moving your body in any way that feels good for you. Explore any physical boundaries with absolute love and kindness.

Honour the ebb and flow of your mind by releasing worries or thoughts that are no longer helpful. Make space for a new inflow of creative energy.

Really feel this life force within, this is your true essential nature. The beautiful energy which makes you, inherently, you. πŸ₯°

I hope you enjoy this practice. Best enjoyed with the sea as a soundtrack! πŸŒŠπŸ•ŠοΈβœ¨πŸ™πŸ»

Bhramari is a gentle breathing practice with many healing benefits, including stress relief. It relieves mental tension and promotes deep relaxation through soothing the nervous system. When practiced for a longer periods of time it induces a tranquil meditative state.

The above video is guidance for first time practice and is the most accessible method if you are suffering neck pain - which is common in stress disorders.

For more instenified sound and vibration, raise the arms and gently press the cartilage of the ears using the thumb, resting the other fingers on the forehead without any pressure. Continue slow deep breaths with humming on your exhale and focus your awareness on the sound and vibration within the throat and middle of head. Keep the breath slow and steady. If there is any strain pause or slow down. After some time, the continued drone of humming induces a lovely state of meditation.

If practising for longer periods of time you could sit on a floor cushion, with your soles flat on the floor, knees raised, elbows resting on knees and your ears closed using thumbs (as above) - for more stability without strain.

It’s the perfect practice to help you slow down, withdraw from sensory overload and make friends with the flow of your breath. This is a relationship well worth nurturing!

This practice should be avoided if you are suffering from ear infection and also should not be practised lying down.

Just let me know any questions and as always - please feel free to share your own experiences!

The warmth of the winter sun on our face always feels like a loving promise of brighter days ahead.

By pausing on our journey, facing the sun directly and closing our eyes we can experience this loving radiance with deeper awareness.

As you close your eyes, notice the vibrant colour at your eyebrow centre and deeply inhale this boundless energy. Visualise it flowing intuitively through your body and to every corner of your being.

If you are suffering any physical pain, ailments, emotions, or even uncomfortable sensations in your body - guide this healing energy to where it is most needed.

Observe how it flows so knowingly, yet gently, and cradles that part of you with absolute loving care and compassion.

Take your time deeply inhaling and exhaling this light through the nose, visualising this energy flowing through you. Lighting up every dark corner, eliminating any lethargy and purifying your entire essence.

If visualising this flow isn’t happening, don’t force - just focus on the colour you see and draw your breath from this infinite glowing source of energy. Exhaling through the mouth if this feels better for you in this moment. Making a sighing noise as you exhale can help you release any tension.

Within a few minutes you are likely to experience a shift in your layers of being - this could be a physical, emotional, mental or spiritual shift. You may feel revitalised and also more connected to your innate inner knowing. A real sense of connectedness and trust of your own true living experience.

This practice cultivates a profound connection with the universal source of light and energy. πŸ’›πŸ™πŸ»

Be warned! As you continue on your journey it might become a walking meditation! With every breath the surrounding nature becomes more and more mindblowingly wondrous!
Even if you are in an urban area, notice where your mind goes…those little intricate and amazing designs might pop up along the way! 🌼

Try it and let me know how it feels for you! I can only share from my own experience.

I love how the science of yoga is so deep and expansive ✨ it is a life long learning - on so many levels! Yet, there tends to be a lot of focus on physical postures - which are actually only a small part of yoga. πŸ•‰οΈ

This is how my practice looked on Friday during a power cut. The hurricane-force gales of Storm Eowyn caused a lot destruction, and very tragically, loss of life. Thinking of everyone affected. πŸ™πŸ»

Trataka (Concentrated Gazing) is one of the purification processes of Hatha yoga. The purpose is to make the mind one-pointed - free from external stimulation, ideas and memories. πŸ•―οΈ

You can also concentrate on a symbol such as a mandala, or an object like a rose or tree, but the impression of a candle flame remains after the eyes are closed - so this allows for the next stage which is internal concentration. Concentrating on this impression is a very powerful form of meditation. πŸ•ŠοΈ

Trataka improves memory, concentration and willpower. It also promotes eye health and relieves eye tension and headaches. 😌

Please ensure to practice under guidance of a teacher or yogic text. Please reach out if any questions or share experiences. πŸ˜ŒπŸ’›βœ¨πŸ•ŠοΈπŸ™πŸ»

Journalling after teaching yoga is part of my practice. Without reflecting how can we evolve? πŸ’«

For me, it’s of utmost importance to share the sacred teachings of yoga respectfully, holistically (without reducing or diluting) and in an authentic and intuitive way - how it flows through me. I am so grateful for the amazing teachers who have inspired, educated and guided me over the years and continue to do so. 🌏 πŸ•‰οΈπŸ™πŸ»

It’s an absolute joy to see students truly experience yoga and hear how they return to this state of yoga in their daily lives after my classes. I feel this state is v much needed today - to help us navigate life with a sense of peace and purpose. πŸ’›βœ¨πŸ•ŠοΈ

Yoga is for everyone. Everyone! Last week I had a little eight year old girl join class with her mum. She followed with complete attention, interest and respect. It was an honour to be part of her earliest experience of yoga. πŸ‘©β€πŸ‘§πŸ’•πŸ™πŸ»
