The Shire is an adult day service set in 12 acres of beautiful Dorset countryside, offering the opportunity to learn new skills, engage and interact with others. We are a day service provision for adults with Learning Disabilities and Mental Health Issues of all abilities and Backgrounds. We are Based near Halstock just 15 minutes from Yeovil Town Centre. Our objective is to provide the opportunit

y for individuals to gain a variety of knowledge, Skills, Confidence, Social interaction, and a gratifying sense of achievement whilst gaining friendship and a feeling of inner self - worth. Activities range from Practical skills such as Animal Husbandry, Farm Maintenance, Gardening and Horticulture, Carpentry, Mechanics, Welding, Equine Therapy, Arts and Crafts, Sensory Activities, Forestry skills, and more all based in a beautiful rural part of Dorset.

🥰❤️Wow what a busy few weeks it's been at The Shire! Animal Coffee Morning - Special Thanks to Jan and her amazing colleagues for all your help that day! Beach Party & Giant Inflatable Obstacle Course, River Walks, Ham Hill, Badminton challenges in Halstock Hall, Local Walks, Arts & Crafts, Baking, Visiting Churches and Completing /starting new projects along with loads of fun and Games!! Well done everyone for all the fun as always it's been a busy fun few weeks!! 🥰❤️

😂🏆🎖️Well we all survived the Mud Run Challenge yesterday in aid of raising funds for wheelchair pathways to be installed at The Shire!! Check out the pics at the end!!😂 Thank you everyone who took part, supported and donated towards the objective we certainly hope you enjoy the pics as much as we all enjoyed the challenge!!💕😊🥰

☀️🥰The last couple of Fridays we have enjoyed trips to Weymouth Beach!!🏖️ It was lovely to have a paddle in the Sea, Check out the Shops and enjoy Fish and Chips with an Ice-cream on the Seafront! Great as always to spend time with all our friends off-site and have plenty of fun and giggles in the sunshine!!

🎵🎸🎤The Shire had a mini Glastonbury last Friday where everyone was able to show off their talents and perform - well done to everyone that took part in this you were all amazing!! We also enjoyed local trips off-site last week along with continuing ongoing projects and general Farm work! Lots of amazing Arts and Craft projects are underway and nearly completed along with starting many more! We all enjoyed a well earned ice-cream today and nothing beats playing games in the garden under the trees!!🥰

🥰🐷Check out Wilf and Wilma in the video- wild ducks that return every spring to The Shire and are super friendly!! Once they return they are both fed daily and join us all in the yard and live on the river bank. It's always a nice surprise by them arriving for breakfast with not just themselves but all their ducklings❤️!! Also massive apologies for not so many pics this time and for not including everyone in this post.... it's impossible to take them constantly when we are all working hard and having fun!! I will try and remember to take more next week!!❤️

🩷🦉🦅🪶We all loved the Bird or Prey that visited The Shire today! Everyone was able to learn, Interact and Handle the birds which was amazing!🩷 Also not forgetting ongoing projects which everyone is super excited about showing you!! Everyone is working hard on achieving outdoor spaces which will make such a difference to everyone so watch this space!! 🩷
