Arrived at for a weekend with and found this fabulous quote in Cyndi’s new book. Cyndi took us through a fantastic practise that managed to be both challenging and relaxing, and now I can’t wait for the weekend. Lovely to finally meet Cyndi and see friends in class too.

Last year I found myself in May, having neglected my yoga practise more than is good for me, and here I am a year later in exactly the same place, so once more I’m looking to do “every day in May” practising for whatever my body needs on that day. Today my body is full of inflammation and pain, the whole practise was painful and difficult and yet even as I was moving I could feel it making a difference, the pain in my sciatic nerve easing with each Down Dog, and the pain in my glutes, easing with each twist or revolved pose. Baby Camel is one of my absolute favourite poses to start the day, and it didn’t disappoint me today either. I hope tomorrow’s class is more pain free, but if not there’s always a practise to give my body what it needs.

Loved last night’s class in St Patrick’s hall, what a lovely light, clean space to practise in. I can’t wait for the temperature to rise enough that we can practise outside in the green. It was lovely to meet new students and welcome familiar faces to the new space. Join me next Wednesday for class. No Monday class next week as it’s a bank holiday, so it’ll be a busy class 😃

I’m getting really excited for my new class tonight.

The sun is shining, it’s going to be a lovely day, and a perfect evening to meet new people and step onto the mat.

That’s one of the things I love most about starting a new class, meeting new people and sharing my love of yoga with them.

Aroha means love in Māori, so my classes are “Love Yoga with Siân”.

That’s what I really hope my students feel when they come to class, how much I love this amazing practise, and that I want to share it with you.

Tonight’s class is all about finding your warrior.

There’s still time to book if you’d like to join me.

Really enjoyed teaching my “runners special” class last night in Whitley.

There’s something so good about giving the legs a proper stretch, especially focusing on the hamstrings, and using the breath to help the body soften and release.

It was one of those lovely, quiet classes where you know everyone is working hard, fully focused and really tuning in to the cues.

That combination of effort and relaxation is where the magic happens.

If your body’s feeling tight, tired, or just in need of a reset, come and join me this Wednesday at my new venue.

In celebration of the London Marathon and the Corsham 10k yesterday tonight’s class will be my popular “runners yoga” class. Designed to give tight legs a great all over stretch, releasing over worked calves, IT band and hamstrings, this class is brilliant at revitalising your legs, whether you’re a runner or not. Did you know that yoga helps reduce injuries, so it’s an ideal complement to running.
If you can’t make it to tonight’s class in Whitley Reading Rooms, then you can still join me for class on Wednesday at St Patrick’s church hall, Park Lane, Corsham. Head to my website to book.

It’s called yoga practise… not yoga perfect

When I look at this photo, I see lots of things I could improve.

This is Bird of Paradise (Svarga Dvijāsana), which we worked on in class on Monday night.

It’s an advanced pose, and most of the class didn’t get into it, which is completely normal.

But a few people did, including one of my newer students, which was amazing to see.

What stood out to me most though wasn’t how the pose looked, but what I saw in the room: mindset, openness, growth, strength, flexibility and balance.

And it made me realise something…

As the teacher, there’s definitely a part of me that feels like my version of a pose should look “perfect”.

But the reality is, I’m on the same journey as everyone else, still learning, still building, still improving.

When I look at myself, I focus on what’s not quite there yet.

But when I looked at my students, I didn’t see that at all, I just saw how strong they were.

It’s so easy to get caught up in what we think we should be able to do, instead of recognising what we can do.

That’s something we work on a lot in my classes, building strength and mobility, yes, but also shifting that mindset.

Most of my students were beginners when they started, and over time they’ve built confidence and strength in ways they didn’t expect.

Not perfectly, but progressively.

If you’re someone who’s willing to challenge your mindset, and you’re looking for a supportive environment to do that in, you’d be very welcome in my class.

A little snapshot from class Monday night 😊

One of the things I love most about my classes is the mix of people in the room.

Different ages, different levels of experience, women and men, some completely new to yoga, others who’ve been practising a while all working at their own pace.

Everyone brings something different, and that’s what makes the atmosphere what it is.

It’s never about being the most flexible or the strongest in the room, just about showing up and starting from where you are.

If you’ve been wondering whether you’d “fit in”, hopefully this gives you a bit of a feel for it.

You don’t need to be a certain level just willing to give it a go.

Thank you to my students for joining me for a dynamic and challenging class, working to develop strong and stable glute and hip muscles on Monday night in Whitley reading rooms, I’m looking forward to bringing my classes to St Patrick’s Church hall in Corsham next Wednesday night.

I thought I’d introduce myself properly 😊

I’m Siân, and I’ll be teaching the new Wednesday evening yoga class in Corsham.

I live with invisible physical disabilities, and yoga isn’t just something I teach, it’s what I live and breathe.

It’s what helps me stay mobile, build strength, and keep my body working in a way that supports me long term.

So when I say my classes are about building strength and flexibility, I really mean it, because I’m doing that work too.

Most of my students were beginners when they started, and over time they’ve built strength, confidence and mobility in ways they didn’t expect.

That’s what I care about most.

If you’re thinking about joining but feel unsure, you’re always welcome to message me and ask anything — I’ll always be honest about whether it’s the right fit for you 😊

I’ve neglected my daily practise again recently, but returning to the mat always feels good. It doesn’t matter what my body needs, there’s a yoga practise that can give it whatever I need, it could be a fast practise to boost my energy, or a slow practise to really connect with the breath, I will always feel better for coming to the mat. Getting there is half the work. Join me for classes that will leave you feeling great, no matter how you feel before. Mondays in Whitley, Wednesdays coming soon to Corsham.

If you’re looking for a yoga class that’s challenging but still really supportive, I’ve got something new starting in Corsham in just 2 weeks time! From 29th April I’ll be teaching at St Patrick’s Hall on Wednesday evenings 🧘‍♀️

My classes are a blend of Vinyasa, Hatha and Ashtanga. That means we build strength, work on balance, and yes we do explore some of the more “interesting” poses too.

But here’s the important bit:
Most of my students were beginners when they started my classes. It’s all about building up to things at your own pace, in a really encouraging space.

📍 St Patrick’s Hall, Park Lane, Corsham
🕢 Wednesdays 7:30–8:30pm
💛 2 donation spaces each week

It’s a lovely calm space (and we can head out onto the green when the weather’s good ☀️)

If you’ve been wanting something that pushes you a little but is still fun you’re very welcome to join me.

Message me if you have any questions, otherwise grab a mat and come and join me. Book online to join in. www.arohayogawithsian.com
