Studio/office space available to rent in Corsham! ✨

This lovely, bright, spacious space is available to use on any days and evenings, except Mondays and Fridays 9-6, when I use it for art therapy sessions.

Rent and electricity bill would be shared with me.

Would be ideal for an artist/ creative person or someone looking for some office space. You would have the use of one whole side of the room and are welcome to put up shelves, pictures etc to make the space your own. 😊

Hello all! 👋 This lovely studio space will soon be available in Pickwick, Corsham. 🎨🛋️🪴

From the end of May, this bright studio space will be available to share with me, available to use any days of the week except Mondays and Fridays.

Would be suitable for an artist or a therapist. All I ask is that you keep the place relatively tidy as I use the space for my art psychotherapy sessions. Costs £280 per month plus electricity on top. Please message me for more info. 😊

A safe place.

Therapy aims to create feelings of safety, trust and containment within the relationship so that these feelings can be internalised, allowing people to feel secure within themselves. It is from this place that people can feel more able to take risks and embrace challenges because they’ve got an internal sense of safety that they can return to. A knowing that they will ultimately be ok.

Sometimes it all feels like a bit of a scrambled mess. Sometimes just expressing that on paper helps! It’s not going to change your situation, but you can experience a sense of relief that you’ve at least acknowledged, expressed and shared that feeling. It’s that first sense of feeling like you’ve “done something about it”. Which can actually free you up to be able to tackle those problems with more of a clear head. 😌

What it can feel like to be staring therapy.

Something that comes up a lot at the beginning of therapy is the feeling of being at a precipice, about to jump into a potentially scary exploration of the “unknown”: A place where we’ve attempted to “bury” the parts of ourselves that feel shameful, or deposit the memories that feel too confusing or frightening to openly contemplate.

Coming to a place in your life where you’re ready to face this stuff is admirable and brave and it’s understandable to feel daunted by this process.

But it’s important to realise that we do this work together and we will always start by building feelings of safety and trust. You will learn skills to help you cope with the emotions that come up and to recognise and respect your own boundaries, so that you can feel more in control of the process.

To work with the above metaphor: maybe we will be jumping into a deep, dark hole together, but we’ll go prepared, we’ll even have our parachutes or bungee cords to come back to solid ground safely, and then we can have a debrief after to see what we learned from our explorations. And hopefully by the end of it, you’ll have impressed yourself by how much you’ve gained from this transformative experience!

Witnessing other people’s distress is hard. We feel compelled to “do something”. To demonstrate that we care. To take action and fix it.

Sometimes that’s what’s being asked of us, and sometimes that’s genuinely what people need.

But sometimes people just need space to unload. To press pause on the chaos. To share what they’re really feeling and have that be heard and understood by another person -without fear of judgement, blame or criticism.

From this place people can begin to make sense of confusion, and emotions shared lose some of their power. People can create their own solutions, or be open to new ideas. Often finding strength they didn’t know they had and navigating their way back to stability.

This is where true empowerment is found and this is what we aim for in the therapeutic relationship. 🧡
