Camping is a great way to spend quality time as a family and make lasting memories. To ensure your camping trip is remembered for all the right reasons:

• Enjoy your BBQs safely by keeping grills and BBQ equipment well away from tents and other enclosed spaces.
• Take a carbon monoxide alarm with you
• and remember BBQs and firepits can stay hot enough to burn a child for a long time after use.
• Be alert to any water nearby. Children can drown quickly and quietly.

It’s scary to think that something you’d buy your child to keep them safe could in fact do the very opposite. But many swim vests, life jackets and buoyancy aids sold on online marketplaces come from abroad and haven’t been safety tested to our standards. This makes them a serious drowning risk.

That’s why we recommend opting for well-known brand names and retailers if you can.

Plus, don't forget drowning happens quickly and quietly. So children need to be actively supervised in and around water at all times.
