It's not automatic for little children to pull away from something that's burning them. It's something they learn.

That's why burns from hair styling tools can be so bad if your child grabs, sits or stands on them.

So, find a spot safely out of reach of curious little fingers and get in the habit of leaving them there each time.

Remember, they can still burn even after they’re unplugged!

Read our free quick guide for more ways to prevent burn injuries: https://capt.org.uk/resources/safe-from-burns-fact-sheet/

Babies are amazing social beings right from birth. Even though the primitive part of their brains focuses on survival, they are born ready to connect with others.

What's your favourite way of interacting with your baby?

🟧 – Day 9: A Child’s Voice

Today we’re sharing the words of a child who has stayed in our refuge:

💬 “I like it here because we can sleep all night. At my old house I used to stay awake to check if Mum was ok”

No child should ever know that kind of fear.
No child should feel responsible for keeping a parent safe.
Every child deserves rest, safety and the chance to simply be a child.

At Coventry Haven Women’s Aid, we do everything we can to give children fleeing Domestic Abuse warmth, stability, space to play, and a place where they can finally breathe.

Can you please help keep our services in place, for every child living with violence?
