Oshun was always in control of her men (but never domineering) and she always captured them with her soft yet firm charm. They couldn't go and they always longed for her love. She did this without making her men feel less or disrespected.

Oshun was the only , or deity, to return Ogun to the world after he had ventured into the forest to escape the annoyances of mankind. 💗💗SHE entered the forest wearing a belt of five yellow handkerchiefs and carrying a gourd of honey. When she found Ogun, she dipped her finger in the honey and rubbed it on his lips. She also pulled him in towards her by tying the five yellow handkerchiefs around his waist.

Ogun was enchanted by Oshun’s beauty and seduction, so he naturally followed. The color yellow, the number five, and honey are major elements involved in rituals devoted to Oshun, especially those meant to enchant or “sweeten” another individual. It is said Ogun never lost his love for Oshun, although he was once married to her sister .

Ogun and Sango are always battling for the affection of Oshun, although Oshun is really only in love with Sango because is a symbol of passion and desire like , while Ogun symbolizes warfare. According to legend, Oshun first met Sango at a drumming festival and has been in love with him ever since.
The way she seduced him then was the same way she seduced . She took her gourd and spread some honey on Sango’s lips

Several myths exist concerning Oshun and her significance as a Yoruba deity.

In most Yoruba stories, Oshun is generally depicted as the protector, saviour, or nurturer of humanity.

❤️Oshun has also been described as the maintainer of spiritual balance or mother of sweet things.

🥰Other myths hold that Oshun is one of the wives of Shango, the god of thunder. She is commonly described as the favourite of all orishas by Olodumare, because of her beauty and sensuality. In yet another Yoruba story, Oshun is depicted as the goddess who not only gives life but also takes it. When angered, Oshun may flood Earth or destroy crops by withholding her waters, thereby causing massive droughts. In one myth, Oshun is incensed by her devotees and sends down rain, nearly flooding the world. Yet once she has been appeased, Oshun saves Earth from destruction by calling back the waters

Oshun has had many husbands. Different tales attribute husbands to her, including Erinle, Oshosi, Orisha Oko, and Aje’-Shaluga. She is also the sexual partner of, Shango and Ogun at different points. Her children include the Ibeji twins, Idowu, and Logun Ede.

Her Symbols and style: Yellow butterflies, gold, yellow roses, jewelry, mirrors, fans, honey pots, and anything that’s super glittery.
Sometimes she is depicted as a mermaid. She is always portrayed as beautiful, charming, and sensual. Sometimes Oshun is a little sad because it’s believed that NO ONE cannot LOVE HER ENOUGH and the world is not as beautiful as she knows it could be. (Um, that kind of makes us sad too.)

She is known as: Goddess of love, romance, gold, pregnancy, emotional healing, beauty, ecstasy, harmony, marriage, wishes, love spells, and fertility. She protects fresh water and rivers. She also heals the sick, cheers up the sad, brings prosperity, is the mother of all orphans, protects the poor, and represents good cheer and overflowing joy.

Oshun is the Orisha goddess of love, healing, fertility, and fresh water. ... According to the Orisha legend, Olodumare, the God of all gods, sent the female deity Oshun down to earth to create a world with a group of male deities. Oshun wore a gold dress and jewelry. She was dark, beautiful, and quite flirtatious. While they admired her beauty, the male gods didn’t think that they needed Oshun’s help to create a world. Frustrated that she wasn’t getting the reverence she deserved, Oshun left this boy’s club and went to the moon, where she lounged and admired herself in the mirror

Oshun didn’t try to convince the male gods of her value or demand reassurance that she was worthy — she just left. She knew they wouldn’t get far without her.
*When we feel we need another person to complete us, or we need reassurance that we are lovable, we are lacking essential Oshun energy*.

Oshun’s departure caused the Earth to dry up. Without water, there weren’t any plants or animals. There was no life. The gods didn’t know what was going on; they didn’t connect their failed attempt of creation to the missing goddess.

Confused by their lack of success, they went back and informed Olodumare that they couldn’t create the world he had requested. The gods explained that the world was barren. Olodumare looked at them quizzically, noticing that Oshun was no longer with the group. He explained to them that Oshun — her love, beauty, and energy — was essential to create the world and life on it.

The chagrined gods apologized to Oshun and begged her to come back and provide her life-giving energy and love. She accepted their apology, but sternly told them not to treat her dismissively again. Upon her return, the world became fertile and beautiful.

1-- when it comes to worshipping idol or have other gods. The òrìshàs aren't even your problem. Your main concern should be the love for money & your priced material possessions that you have place way above God. Those things you want that has been pushing you to unspeakable things. That's not the topic for today

2. There's no traditional means of worship that will tell you òrìshà is GOD no! Yoruba traditional refers to God as Èdùmàrè, Eledumare. Olodumare. And is why we end our prayers with Ase Edumare (so shall it be in God's name) like you say amen in Jesus name or Amin ya allah or Insha Allah.

Maybe you will understand it this way. When you pray as a christain, God of Abraham Isaac and Jacob. God of Elijah. God of David!!! That's you calling on who the traditional worshipers refer to as ancestors when you say God if Elijah send down fire. That is orísha sango at work. When God of Noah brought flood that's Oshun Oya Yemoja and olokun at work.

Maybe you aren't comfortable with the words gods-- the òrìshàs being referred to as gods. But in Psalm 82:6 says yẹ are gods with the small letter "g" so what's wrong with referring to òrìshàs as gods. Like I said earlier your issue is not the òrìshà. Those other gods you have are the lust and greed in you that is struggling with God in your life. Your problem is not the òrìshà
