90% of people cannot function normally at work during a migraine attack 🤯

How many work days do you lose per month due to migraine?

One of the key difference between migraine and headache is that migraine is disabling in nature. A typical tension headache should not interfere with day to day life. You are usually able to take some painkillers and continue on with your day.

This is not the case with migraine. During an attack, many are unable to do anything at all. Our speech, vision, movement and cognition can all be impaired.

How do you manage work and migraine? 💼🧠

Migraine + this heat 🤯

It's relentless. The back-to-back nature of attacks with chronic migraine makes it one of the most disabling and exhausting conditions to navigate. Just as you feel yourself coming out of an attack and are muddling your way through the migraine hangover, you are slam-dunked back into another one. Is this the same attack or a new one? 😩 The absolute worst IYKYK

Have your migraine attacks become more frequent or severe? ↔️

There are several risk factors which can make you more vulnerable to your migraine progressing from episodic to chronic.

These include:

🗓 Having increasingly frequent attacks that are not well managed.

💊 Using acute medication too frequently

💊 Underusing acute and preventative medication

🧠 Migraine is linked to several mood disorders including anxiety and depression. As migraine progresses, the risk for anxiety and depression also goes up and vice versa.

😣 A major life event which causes someone lots of stress, such as a breakdown of a relationship, or loss of job. This can act as a catalyst for migraine progression. Stress is not the cause of migraine but it can be a trigger.

‼️ Cutaneous allodynia (painful touch) from central sensitisation. Painful touch which shouldn't be painful such as touching your face or brushing your hair could be a sign of allodynia.

If you're concerned about medication overuse, or looking for additional treatment options to try, CEFALY offers a fantastic medication free solution that can be used alongside your current medications or as an alternative treatment approach.

✅ Use it with your preventative medications to enhance their effectiveness

Migraine is so often thought of as a bad headache, but head pain, if even present, is just one symptom of a migraine attack.

There is so much focus on the main attack that often the initial prodrome phase and final postdrome phase are forgotten about.

Picking up on the early warning signs of an attack in the prodrome phase (excessive yawning, irritability, food cravings, stiff neck etc) can have a huge impact on the timing and ultimately the success of your acute treatment.

Just like with acute medication, we recommend that you use the acute setting on the CEFALY at the first sign of an attack.

What symptoms of migraine do you experience during the prodrome?
