Why don't you reach for a book instead of a tablet?

Take a book out with you to the shop, the park, the bus, a waiting room.

If you show an interest in books, your child soon will too and you will have lots of fun together.

For younger children books can be more fun if they have flaps to lift , different fabrics or wheels to turn.

You donโ€™t have to read the words, just name the picture your child is looking at, this may only be 1 object before your child turns the page but over time they will be showing you more on each page.

Books help to develop interests such as Animals/Vehicles and are just a great way to play and have fun with your child.

Our favourites include Dear Zoo, Busterโ€™s Farm, Whereโ€™s Spot, Rabbitโ€™s Nap and 1st word books.

A reminder to follow the link to our website for further explanation of our Communication Tree and how this helps us to think about how early skills (roots) feed the rest of speech, language and communication development in the early years and beyond and how we can support these skills as communication partners and providers of a communication friendly environment. https://www.coventrychildrensslt.co.uk/families/
