Thought for Friday - Negative Thoughts
Those negative thoughts that come into your mind?
You have no control over them - they just appear.
ANY thoughts that come into your mind - just happen!
What you do have control over, is what you do with those negative thoughts.
🌺 You can believe they are true
🌺 You can think that's the only outcome because you thought it
🌺 You can limit yourself by thinking there's no other way
Or
💡 You can take control of that thought. Recognise that it is, just a thought.
Think about it and decide, what's the best thing, for me, that I can do with this thought?
Here's an example: We are very quick to put ourselves down aren't we? Saying things such as, "I'm rubbish at this." Or "I'm crap at that."
How can this negative thought be turned around into something positive?
By realising you've just had the thought that you're rubbish at this, or crap at that, and then deciding that you are going to think of it a different way.
Of course you're not rubbish at this. That's a belief (and as we know, beliefs aren't true). So let's have a go.....
After that negative thought, ponder and say...
"I want to be better at doing this than I am at the moment, so I'm going to practice and become better."
Or
"I am good at this."
This turns the original, negative thought, into a positive thought. With you realising there's a learning opportunity here, if you so wish.
This is just one example of the many thoughts we have, and believe them to be true, because we have thought them.
Be aware of what you're thinking, and you'll become more aware of the control you have over your thoughts.
