🧠 The Neuroscience of Gratitude 🧠

Gratitude isn’t just a “feel-good” or “airy-fairy” practice - it actually changes your brain.

When you pause to notice what you’re thankful for, your brain releases dopamine and serotonin - the same chemicals linked with joy and calm.

Over time, regularly practicing gratitude strengthens neural pathways that make it easier to shift your focus from stress to what’s supportive.

It doesn’t have to be big - writing down three small things at the end of the day is enough to create these changes.

We often prompt reflections of gratitude during the relaxation phase of some of our classes, for these very reasons 🫶🏻

The more you practice, the more your brain learns to look for the good, even in challenging seasons. 🌿

Gratitude is less about ignoring difficulties, and more about rewiring your brain toward balance, resilience, and perspective.

🌱 September Beginner Courses 🌱

We’re so lucky at Soul & Soma to have a wonderfully diverse team sharing their expertise. This autumn we’re opening two supportive beginner pathways:

🌿 Beginners Reformer Pilates - a 4-week course led by Chartered Physiotherapist & APPI Pilates Instructor. Learn the foundations of reformer with expert clinical guidance.

🧘🏻‍♀️ Beginners Yoga - a 6-week course led by .yoga 5th-year Medical Student & Yoga Instructor. Build confidence, balance, and presence from the very beginning.

Both courses are designed to help you feel supported, move with confidence, and build lasting strength in a welcoming space 💫

Yesterday’s yoga flow with .lucy in the beautiful reminded us of the deep connection between movement, nature, and healing. 🌿

Surrounded by plants and herbs traditionally used for their restorative properties, we tapped into the same wisdom they’ve carried for centuries.

Just like these plants, our bodies and minds hold a natural capacity to heal. 🌱

Time outdoors has been shown to calm the nervous system, soften stress, and help us drop into that peaceful flow state where movement feels effortless and the mind grows quiet.

Practising yoga in nature is more than exercise - it’s a reset, a reminder to slow down, breathe deeply, and let the world around us restore balance within. 🌸☀️

Here’s to making space for more flow, more nature, and more healing moments in our week.
