Reformer or mat - it’s how you move, not what you move on. 💡

The equipment just gives you feedback. And yes, for some people - this additional source of proprioceptive feedback can be game changing.
But the real work is in your control, breath, and awareness - how you connect, engage and coordinate through each movement.

Whether you’re rehabbing an injury, building everyday strength or enhancing performance - when it comes to Pilates, it always comes back to the same thing: quality over intensity.

Pain is never just physical. 🧠💭

Research shows that our pain experience is influenced by so much more than tissue damage - it’s shaped by:

🌱 Biological factors (inflammation, nerve sensitivity, hormones)
🌱 Psychological factors (stress, anxiety, fear, expectations, beliefs about pain)
🌱 Social factors (work, relationships, environment, culture)

That’s why two people with the same injury can have completely different experiences.

In the famous “nail in the foot” case study, a builder jumped onto a nail that went straight through his boot - he was in excruciating pain, rushed to A&E, sedated…
But when they removed his boot, the nail had gone between his toes - no tissue damage at all.

💡 Our brain interprets threat, not just injury. Understanding this helps us move away from fear and toward recovery.

👉 Pain is real. It’s just more complex than we were ever taught.
