The body, mind and soul are more interconnected than you might think 👀
The word ‘yoga’ roughly translates to ‘union’ which means union of these 3 aspects. Hatha yoga works by using the physical body, to create a change in the mind, which then has a profound effect on the spirit 🙏🏼
In the same way traditional Chinese medicine uses an energetic blueprint of the body to successfully treat various conditions through things like acupuncture and reflexology, ancient yogic practises also work on the subtle energetic body by using the physical body as a tool for precise activation - this is what traditional yoga is truly for ☯️
‘Nadi’ is a Sanskrit word meaning energy channel. These channels in the body carry prana, known as ‘chi’ in Chinese medicine or simply ‘energy’ in new age spiritual fields.
The main 2 energy channels are on the left and right side of the body, each correlating to the opposite hemisphere of the brain. Every time we practise certain yoga poses/mantras/ breathing exercises, we’re creating an opening of one of these energy channels, which in turn stimulates a specific region of the brain 🧠 (MRI scans have proved this!)
This is what people are referring to when they say yoga is so much more than a physical practise! Not only does it regulate all of the bodily systems (immune system, digestive system, hormonal system etc.), it’s also the main reason why yoga practitioners are clear of emotional blockages (which cause illness/disease), and are able to reach higher states of consciousness to transform their lives 🧘🏻♀️
