I am very proud to see the AED dedicated to John Cruse being fitted to the wall on the Botcherby Community Centre in Carlisle.

A huge thank you to the donation by North West Ambulance Charity , the people who have donated towards and our team to make this happen. Also to the Centre for accepting it and becoming guardians to look after for years to come.

John would have been lost for words to see the dedication in his name but this is a fitting tribute to a true gentleman.

This will be available for community to use to help save a life when needed.

Community first responder (CFR) volunteer fact-checker.
Our CFRs use a responder app on their phone to respond to 999 calls
CFRs may be offered 999 calls within a set radius of where they are, the radius will move with them, so they don’t have to stay at home.
CFRs have been helping us respond to emergencies for nearly 30 years
CFRs don’t have to have a clinical background or qualification. We will train them.
You can find out more by searching ‘become an NWAS volunteer’ online.

We are looking to install a public access automated external defibrillator in memory of our Team Leader who we sadly lost in 2024.

John Cruse was a loving husband and a true gentleman who would do anything to help anyone.

As well as a volunteer for NWAS as a Community First Responder John also volunteered for blood bikes Cumbria and other organisations.

As a team we are looking to install an AED in his local community in Carlisle which will be available 24/7 to be used to help save a life as part of the chain of survival.

We feel this is a fitting tribute to John and one he would have been very proud of.
