With us officially in 2026, we thought it would be a good idea to re-introduce ourselves.

Founded in the 1950s by William George Paterson, our business remains a proud family tradition. Now led by his grandson, Callum W. Paterson, we continue to uphold the same standards of excellence set over 70 years ago.

From the small details like fitting a new door to the major milestone of building a new home, we handle it all. Our team provides full project management and supplies all trades, ensuring a seamless experience and 100% satisfaction every time.

In our Turriff workshop, our skilled joiners are busy year-round crafting heavy-duty timber buildings, from garden sheds and summerhouses to Building and Masonry work.

As 2025 draws to a close, W G Paterson & Son would like to say a huge thank you to all our customers — past, present and future — for your valued custom and for continuing to support a small, family run local business.

This year has brought its share of challenges. Most significantly, we faced the heartbreaking loss of our founder, William George Paterson, in August. He was truly one of a kind and we are deeply grateful for the heartfelt condolences we received during such a difficult time.

The wider construction industry has also endured a tough year. It has been saddening to see several long standing firms close their doors for the final time in 2025. Your loyalty, your recommendations and the fantastic reviews you leave for our team mean more than ever. They keep us going and they keep local trades alive.

We are incredibly fortunate to have the best team around and their hard work has not gone unrecognised:

🎯 Macmillan Darts Marathon 2025 – What a Night! 🎯

We are incredibly proud of Team We Must Be Maud, who raised an amazing £6,426 and finished 3rd place out of 1639 teams nationwide. An unbelievable effort from everyone involved.

The team powered through until 11pm, racking up a massive 167,479 points and running huge amount of raffles with fantastic prizes. 💚

In Loving Memory of William George Paterson

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of William George Paterson, founder of W G Paterson & Son, who left us on Saturday, 9th August.

William began his self employed journey in 1955, laying the foundation for what would become a trusted and enduring family business. This year marks an extraordinary 70 years in business. A testament to his dedication, hard work, and the values he instilled in the firm.

To pay our respects and honour his remarkable legacy, W G Paterson & Son will be closed on Thursday, 21st August, as we attend his funeral service.
