What a wonderful start to the first week of the holidays 💛

The children enjoyed enriching days of outdoor learning and exploration, making full use of the natural environment and community experiences. From observing spring daffodils, ground mat making and engaging in imaginative play with Easter-themed resources, to developing physical skills through climbing and balancing the children demonstrated confidence, curiosity and independence. Visits to see animals at the deer centre sparked meaningful conversations about living things….. ( they still insist the Haggis is alive) 😂….while exploration in local woodland areas supported problem solving, risk awareness and sensory development.

A wonderful week or so of rich, child-led learning both indoors and outdoors. The children explored our spring bug tuff tray, as they investigated mini-beasts and habitats. Our outing to the aquarium and local museum supported real-life understanding of our world. Outdoors, the children built confidence and resilience through risky play—balancing, climbing, den building and exploring nature—supporting their physical development and wellbeing. These experiences link closely to early level outcomes, fostering creativity, independence, communication and a deep connection to the natural environment. 💚

The children enjoyed a range of rich experiences through outdoor exploration, creative play and hands-on activities. Our polytunnel seeds arrived 🎉…
During our visit to the beach and the St Andrews Aquarium the children explored natural materials such as sand, rocks and water, throwing stones into rock pools and observing their surroundings. In the woods and park areas the children climbed trees, balanced on equipment and explored natural spaces, made marks with sticks, developing confidence, coordination. Indoors, creative handprint painting allowed the children to express themselves through colour and senses

We had another busy and creative week exploring nature, stories and seasonal celebrations. The children enjoyed learning about life cycles through books and sensory play, feeding our Hungry Caterpillar in the Tuff Tray and exploring different foods. On our outdoor adventures we were excited to discover frog and toad spawn in the pond, which sparked lots of curiosity about how frogs grow and change. We noticed the farmers spreading compost in the local fields ready for planting and read a book about poo 💩 and its uses. Indoors we also celebrated St David’s Day with daffodil colouring and craft activities, alongside plenty of imaginative play, building, and exploring. A lovely week of discovery, creativity and early science learning together.

The children have enjoyed a rich and engaging few weeks filled with creativity, discovery and fun learning. Through sensory play, seasonal art, storytelling and imaginative exploration, making jewellery and outdoor play the children developed fine motor skills, early literacy and numeracy. We explored kindness and emotions through stories and Valentine activities, celebrated cultural learning during Chinese New Year (year of the horse), and the upcoming St Davids Day which we tie in with daffodils and spring. They looked at the human body with basic functions. Outdoor adventures have resumed encouraging physical development and a love of the natural world.

We celebrated Penguin Day …….. where the children helped organise our penguin Tuff Tray with real ice, cracking bath salts, icebergs and blue water, creating lots of curiosity and sensory discovery.
They also enjoyed our new shop role-play area, practised counting with the beads/abacus, and built mine craft world designs using magnetic building cubes.

We also looked at the water cycle and placed gauges outside to measure rainfall

We shared the story “Blue Penguin” and watched a National Geographic Kids penguin programme, sparking lots of wonderful questions and conversation! 🐧
