The Mental Capacity Act (2005) is designed to protect and support individuals who may struggle to make certain decisions for themselves. It ensures people are empowered to make their own choices wherever possible and are supported in a way that respects their rights and independence.

At Care Matters, we follow its 5 key principles every day, assuming capacity, supporting decision-making, respecting individual choices, acting in best interests, and always using the least restrictive approach.
