Daventry Wellness & Sports CIC and West Northamptonshire Pickleball CIC are working together to develop and expand sports in our community, and we need your help! We're looking for enthusiastic volunteers to support both badminton and the rapidly growing sport of pickleball.

A fond farewell to Mat! 👋 We're sad to announce that Mat Biddle will be stepping down from his role as a director of Daventry Wellness & Sports CIC and West Northants Pickleball. Mat has been a driving force behind the scenes, working tirelessly to respond to all your messages and lead our socials, making sure that you are up to date with the latest.

Mat has helped introduce pickleball to a lot of newbies, calmed us down on the badminton court and been a massive part of the team. We've truly appreciated his dedication, his quick wit, and his ability to make everyone laugh. We wish him all the best in his future endeavors! Thanks for everything, Mat! 🏓

That's a wrap on our Double-Decker Pickleball Sunday! 🍔🏓 A massive thank you to everyone who came down for the early morning patty (8:30 am - 10:30 am), the afternoon delight (3:30 pm - 5:30 pm), or the whole shebang! Extra kudos to Carissa for celebrating her birthday with a double dose of dinking! 🎉

The mid-week pickleball party continues this week! Join us for more action:

ALL NEW Tuesday: Competitive Play kicks off at 5:00 pm
Wednesday: Social Play at 6:00 pm.
Thursday: Social Play at 6:30 pm.

And that's the first of our double-decker pickleball sessions done! Thank you to those who had to get up extra early on a Sunday (especially with the clock change!) at 8:30am, it was great to see your faces!

There's still a chance to get your spot later today as the second of our double-decker pickleball sessions begins at 3:30pm and runs until 5:30pm today.

From Little Seeds, Mighty Branches: The Story of West Northants Pickleball! 🌱

We're excited to share the evolution of our sporting community and the launch of West Northamptonshire Pickleball CIC (WNP). It all began in 2020 with a group of friends who, like many, felt the frustration of limited access to sports after the Covid lockdowns. Kate took the initiative to establish a badminton club, driven by a desire to create a more welcoming and inclusive alternative. This small seed of an idea grew, and in March 2024, Daventry Wellness & Sports CIC was formed, expanding to incorporate regular social activities alongside badminton.

However, it was the introduction of pickleball in May 2024 that proved truly transformative. The sport's accessibility and social nature sparked a surge in participation, and Daventry Wellness & Sports CIC's membership rapidly grew to over 500! This overwhelming response highlighted the incredible potential of pickleball to bring people together and the need for dedicated resources to support its growth.

To fully realise this potential and align with our long-term vision, we've established West Northants Pickleball (WNP) as a separate Community Interest Company (CIC) in March 2025. This allows us to:

🌱 Focus solely on pickleball development: Creating specialised programmes, coaching, and eventually, a dedicated facility.
🌱 Pursue Community Amateur Sports Club (CASC) status: Granting us access to broader funding opportunities and enabling us to further enhance our community impact.
🌱 Clarify our not-for-profit operations: Reinforcing our commitment to reinvesting surpluses for the benefit of our members and the community.

Daventry Wellness & Sports CIC, fuelled by grant funding from West Northamptonshire Council, Daventry Town Council, and the Business & Intellectual Property Centre (BIPC), laid the groundwork for this exciting expansion. We're incredibly grateful for its role in our journey.

Now, WNP is poised to take pickleball in Daventry to the next level! To celebrate this new chapter, we're offering an annual WNP membership for just £36, including 2 FREE pickleball sessions. Members also get to enjoy discounted sessions at £5.25 (non-member price: £7.25). And that's just the beginning! We're working hard to bring you leagues, tournaments, junior sessions, family events, and much more.
