TyTek Tension Pneumothorax Access Kit (TPAK) 14G Chest Decompression Needle. Now in Lysander Humanitarian Kits for Ukraine
The TyTek Tension Pneumothorax Access Kit (TPAK) 14G Chest Decompression Needle is a vital component of the Lysander humanitarian kits deployed to Ukraine. This device is specifically designed for the emergency treatment of tension pneumothorax—a life-threatening chest injury caused by air trapped in the pleural space, often resulting from gunshot wounds, blast injuries, or penetrating trauma.
Why is the TyTek TPAK included?
Critical for Chest Injuries: Tension pneumothorax leads to a collapsed lung and severe breathing difficulty, which can be fatal if not treated immediately. The TyTek TPAK is engineered for fast, reliable decompression, allowing trapped air to escape and restoring lung function.
How It Works
The kit features a 14-gauge, 8.25cm (3.25”) needle that meets current clinical guidelines for prehospital care. When inserted at the correct anatomical site, it provides a direct escape route for trapped air, relieving pressure on the lung and heart and stabilising the casualty until evacuation is possible.
Efficiency in the Field
The TPAK is robust, sterile, and compact—suitable for rapid deployment in high-stress environments. Its design allows for quick use by trained personnel, even under challenging conditions.
Life-Saving Impact: Early intervention with the TyTek TPAK can be the difference between life and death, especially in conflict zones where professional medical help may be delayed.
Supporting Ukraine’s Medical Response
Lysander humanitarian kits, equipped with the TyTek TPAK, ensure Ukrainian medics and first responders have clinically approved tools to manage critical chest injuries in the field. To date we have sent 1600 to Ukraine
