On Saturday morning l complete my first Mindfulness for Children course Connects Physio & Pilates & it was beyond beautiful β¨π
Over 16 lessons the children repeatedly showed up and invested so much effort and commitment into their practice.. π§ββοΈπ€π§
Each lesson has an individual topic for example ..
β¨ Appreciating others
β¨ Willpower
β¨ Being Grateful
β¨ Beginners Mind
β¨ Being a good Friend
β¨ Learning Resilience
β¨ Mindsight
Witnessing the children move through the first few lessons with little confused faces when l spoke to being able to sit in a strong posture & meditate up to 12 minutes was incredibly inspiring .. ππ«

After teaching this evening l popped over to M&S to do a little food shop & as l was lifting this beautiful food off the shelf l had such a strong thought βwe are so lucky to have immediate access to such delicious foodβ & in that second had thee strongest feeling of gratitude move from my chest up to my face ππ
Life can change in the blink of an eye but having an established gratitude practice can provide the following benefits -

I have eaten a plant-based diet π± for approximately 2 &1/2 years now..
It has been a gradual process over time having stopped drinking milk π₯ as a student nurse, eliminating meat π in 2017 & then becoming fully plant based π₯ in 2019..
Although l hold a life long passion for animals β€οΈ my ultimate motivation towards this lifestyle was my health .. l had been experiencing poor gut health for sometime and having explored many possible avenues to help identify my triggers l eventually looked at creating significant changes to my diet..
It was not an overnight success as l had to do other healing work alongside & it took considerable time to educate myself π to what a plant-based diet is but for me itβs been one of thee best decisions l have ever made & l have never enjoyed food more .. πππ₯π«π₯¦π
My favourite breakfast atm is frozen berries heated in a saucepan to create a delicious compote added to coconut yoghurt, peanut butter & topped with granola .. ππ₯₯π₯π€€

As a young child l remember reading with great enthusiasm and curiosity anything relating to the bodyβs anatomy and function. I was enthralled by the intricate and often delicate structures within the body but also by its infinite strength and wisdom. As l grew this desire to understand grew with me. Professionally, l pursued my passion training as a nurse which led me to practice in oncology and more recently as a school nurse.
Caring for patients with cancer l quickly saw how each patient had a story which brought them to that point in their life. They often shared stories of loneliness, unresolved conflict, regret, fear, heartache, loss, deep emotional pain, not having reached their potential in life, not being seen, not being heard, etc. Progressing on to school nursing l was astonished and devastated to witness that many of these experiences our children are living today. Children are pleading to understand and to be understood. As an often lonely and frightened child l feel a deep empathy for young people today. Children do not yet have the mental or emotional development to navigate the complexities and demands of todayβs world and l feel are screaming for support and guidance.
Our young people are educated in subjects to attain a career, financial income, a home, a car, status, etc but infrequently, if at all, are they taught how to recognise and deal with their thoughts and emotions; how to speak their truth; how to be a good listener; how to communicate when struggling; how to develop true self-esteem/self-confidence; how to go within and connect with their true self; or how to realise their life purpose.
Having personal experience of mental ill health l have a profound understanding of the pain and fear mental ill health can bring. Gaining immeasurable support and comfort from talking therapy l instinctively began my personal healing journey through what l would later learn to be called βMindfulnessβ. To heal the mind talking therapy is wonderful and has many benefits but, l feel, is missing the component of coming into the body and healing through the deep connection of the body and mind. Mindfulness enables us to understand the mind-body connection. Mindfulness is defined as living in the present moment, non-judgmentally and with compassion. Practicing mindfulness can take many forms. It may be as simple as slowing down and becoming more conscious of the beauty in nature; eating with greater awareness; focusing on the breath at times of stress/anxiety; being kinder to ourselves and others; walking or seated meditation; etc.
Struggling to reach optimum physical health l more recently discovered Kinesiology and the results were breathtaking. Through my kinesiology treatment l gained an even deeper insight and understanding of how our emotional and mental health are so intimately connected to our physical health and the limitless ability our bodies have to heal when supported to do so naturally.
Today l fell younger, healthier and happier than l have my entire life and l am extremely grateful to have found my purpose. The true joy of life comes from knowing who we are and living that fully without reservation.
