🚫 Missed Appointments in December – Please Help Us Help You 🚫
In January, 146 appointments were missed at North Road Suite — either adults not attending or children not being brought. That’s 33.5 hours of clinical time lost, which could have been used to care for other patients. Sadly this is only down 45mins from December.
📢 Patients across the county regularly tell their GP how hard it is to get an appointment. We could see so many more people if everyone cancelled their appointment. Missed appointments take away vital time that could have gone to another patient who needs help.
We understand that emergencies happen. But if you can’t attend, please cancel online or call us on 01924 767101 (Option 2) to leave a message. Or ring our dedicated cancellation line on 01924 767098 and leave a message.
Every missed slot usually means another appointment must be made, adding strain to an already stretched NHS system.
🙏 Thank you for working with us to make sure care is available when it’s needed most.

📢 Did you know your local pharmacy can help you feel better — without a GP appointment? 💊👩‍⚕️

They are there for more than just prescriptions! Thanks to the NHS Pharmacy First service, their trained pharmacists can now diagnose and treat a range of common health conditions and even *provide NHS-supplied medication where appropriate — no need to book a GP appointment first! ✨

👩‍⚕️ Here’s what they can do for you:
✅ Offer consultations to discuss your symptoms
✅ Treat minor illnesses such as:
• Earache
• Sore throat
• Sinusitis
• Infected insect bites
• Impetigo
• Shingles
• Uncomplicated urinary tract infections (in women aged 16–64)
✅ Provide appropriate NHS medicines (including some prescription-only medicines) without a GP visit, when clinically safe
✅ Give advice on staying well, managing minor ailments, contraception, blood pressure checks and more
📍 No appointment needed — just pop in!

If your symptoms need further investigation, they will refer you to the right NHS service — your safety is their priority. 💙

👉 Don’t forget — after your consultation they can also send a notification to your GP so your health record is up to date.

Let them help you get the right care, right away.

👀 Glaucoma & Free Eye Tests – Are You Eligible?

Did you know that if you have a close relative with glaucoma (parent, sibling, or child) and you’re aged 40 or over, you may be entitled to a free NHS eye test?
🔹 People with a family link to glaucoma are at a higher risk of developing the condition.
🔹 Even if you don’t qualify (for example, if only a grandparent has glaucoma), regular check-ups are still strongly recommended – they could prevent unnecessary sight loss.
A recent survey found that over 65% of people discovered they had glaucoma during a free eye test at their local optician. Glaucoma is often symptomless, so the best way to pick it up early is to get your eyes tested.

✅ Other groups who may qualify for free NHS sight tests in England, Wales & Northern Ireland include:
Aged 60 or over
Diagnosed with diabetes or glaucoma
Under 16, or under 19 and in full-time education
40 or over with a close relative who has glaucoma
Registered blind or partially sighted
Those receiving certain benefits (or dependents under 20 of someone who does)
👉 Not sure if you qualify? Use the official NHS eligibility checker here: https://check-for-help-paying-nhs-costs.nhsbsa.nhs.uk/start

💡 If you think you may be eligible, contact your local optician for further information and to book an appointment, make sure to tell them you believe you are eligible for a free sight test. Don’t wait for symptoms – protect your sight today.

🎗️❤️ WORLD AIDS DAY – 1st DECEMBER ❤️🎗️

Today we unite to support those living with HIV, remember those we’ve lost, and stand together against stigma.

HIV is treatable, and with effective medication, people living with HIV can live long, healthy lives — and cannot pass on the virus when their viral load is undetectable.

💡 How to protect yourself and others:
✔️ Use condoms correctly and consistently
✔️ Get tested regularly
✔️ Have open conversations about sexual health
✔️ Learn the facts and challenge stigma

Find out more or get involved:

Together, let’s work towards ending new HIV cases by 2030.
❤️ Support. Educate. Break the stigma. ❤️

World AIDS Day is important because it reminds the public and government that HIV has not gone away – there is still a vital need to raise money, increase awareness, fight prejudice and improve education.

In October, 229 appointments were missed at North Road Suite — either adults not attending or children not being brought. That’s 46.6 hours of clinical time lost, which could have been used to care for other patients — an increase of 6 hours compared to September.

We also had 5.2 hours of lost clinical time with patients that did not attended or cancel their flu appointment they booked for the weekend 4th and 5th October.
