🚨❗ Weight Loss Injection Update (Mounjaro)

Our telephone lines have been very busy today with lots of queries following announcements in the media.

❌ South Yorkshire ICB have confirmed that these are NOT currently available on the NHS in our area for weight loss. They are on the red (non-prescribable) list until a full NHS service is confirmed and launched to support and monitor treatment. ❌

➡️ This means we as a practice, cannot prescribe Mounjaro or similar medications for weight loss at the surgery at the moment.

👥 Who will be eligible when the new service starts?

In the first 12 months, only a small number of patients will qualify. You must:

Have a BMI over 40
Have at least 4 of these 5 conditions:

➡️Type 2 diabetes
➡️High blood pressure
➡️Sleep apnoea
➡️Heart disease or stroke
➡️High cholesterol/triglycerides

We would greatly appreciate it if you would please not contact the surgery regarding this. We cannot prescribe this currently.
