✨PARENTS AND CARERS✨

Please take some time to read the below post from Doncaster health visitors and please share with your friends and family.

It’s that time of year again when mini eggs are lining the supermarket shelves. But, did you know that, just like grapes, they are the perfect size to block a small child’s airway and choke them? And, their hard shell can make it difficult to dislodge with standard first aid techniques.

With whole grapes we advise cutting them in half lengthways and ideally into quarters to create thin strips. But chopping up mini eggs isn’t as easy. So, what can you do?

1. Hide them from the children and eat them yourself – good luck with that!

2. Break them into small pieces with a rolling pin. Or, crush them in a pestle and mortar. Or melt them a little first.

3. Opt for a different treat. Larger, hollow eggs are much safer for little ones.

For more practical tips and advice to keep children safe from choking take a look at our guide: https://capt.org.uk/resources/choking-fact-sheet/

The 2026- 27 GP contract lands with big headlines and even bigger assumptions, but the reality is far more complex.

In this new conversation, Fran and I break down what’s actually changing, why it matters, and how these shifts could shape the future of general practice.

We take the contract apart section by section - access, funding flows, urgent demand, incentives, online registrations, advice & guidance, continuity, and the emerging role of what many practices now feel like: a “National Emergency Service”.

A few themes we dig into:
- Access changes. What’s promised, what’s missing, and what it means for day‑to‑day demand.
- Urgent care pressure and the uncomfortable question of where those patients actually go.
- Funding and incentives. Including vaccines, overdue immunisations, and the £3,000 weight‑loss jab offer.
- Workforce realities. The “more doctors are coming” narrative.
- Continuity of care. Why it still matters, and how it fits into a system under strain.
- The gap between headlines and operational reality and why that gap is widening.

🎅🏻 We need your help to save Santa! 🎅🏻

Santa has run his round for decades now across Doncaster raising money for hundreds of local causes but each year his helpers are getting fewer and fewer.

We've already lost two sleighs in our area in recent years due to a lack of volunteers: Rotary Club of Doncaster and Edlington and Warmsworth Lions, which now means that no kids in Edlington, Warmsworth or the top end of Balby have been able to see Santa down their street in the last few years 😭

Santa runs off of two things, Volunteers and Christmas Spirit ✨

Now we know you all have plenty of Christmas Spirit however we could really do with more volunteers to help bring memories for years to come.

We have 10 volunteers this year, down from 12 last year, who are out each night to bring the sleigh to as many houses as possible but with more volunteers we could do so much more and keep Santa going for our children and grandchildren ❤️

Please help us save Christmas for years to come. Check out how in the comments below 👇
