✨ Hypnotherapy Myths vs Reality ✨

There are so many misconceptions about hypnotherapy and they often stop people from trying something that could genuinely help them feel calmer and more in control.

Here are the three myths I hear most often:

❌ Myth 1: “Hypnosis is mind control.”
✔ Reality: You stay fully aware, fully in control, and can stop at any time. You’re never “under” anything.

❌ Myth 2: “It’s like stage hypnosis.”
✔ Reality: Therapeutic hypnosis is calm, gentle and focused on helping you reduce stress and anxiety, nothing dramatic or theatrical.

❌ Myth 3: “I don’t think I can be hypnotised.”
✔ Reality: If you can relax, listen and imagine, you can benefit from hypnotherapy.

Hypnotherapy is simply a different doorway into the nervous system, a space where stress softens and the mind becomes more receptive to change.

Six years ago, Keira Knightley revealed that the pressures of fame led to a breakdown at just 22. She didn’t leave her house for three months and turned to hypnotherapy to regain the confidence to attend the BAFTAs in 2008.

In a recent interview, Knightley shared the darker side of her rise to fame, including being stalked and harassed by men after Pirates of the Caribbean. She recalled being told, “You wanted this,” a phrase that reflects the entitlement women often face when they succeed.

This isn’t just a Hollywood issue—it’s a systemic problem women face worldwide. Whether it’s in the workplace, public spaces, or online, no one’s success or visibility should ever justify mistreatment or a lack of respect.

Keira’s courage in sharing her story reminds us that we need to prioritize mental health, challenge harmful behaviors, and demand better. Let’s create a culture of respect, safety, and support for all women, no matter their path in life.
