My second YouTube Yoga Class went live on Monday. I am recording more this afternoon after my weekly Portesham and Upwey classes so make sure to check out the channel to see what's to come! It's great offering these classes to people free of charge, alongside my online Sound Baths, and hope it gives everyone I usually teach in person, and beyond, a chance to get a class in around a busy schedule.

If you have any requests for class content in the coming weeks the let me know! It could be an additional video more about yoga generally or Pranayama breathwork as an example or a particular pose broken down...or even about me?!?!

Do you find yourself struggling to be alone or in silence without headphones/your phone? This is unfortunately a very common sensation in today's world. We are surrounded by constant stimulus, distraction, and stresses, so our focus has diminished on average to a point that there is evidence to suggest goldfish now have a greater ability to focus than humans...

Yoga, meditation techniques, or Sound Baths can be really useful tools to help us step away from these day-to-day distractions we all have in life. Setting aside a bit of time just to be with yourself and use your focus to be in the moment, be that in movement or stillness, can help train ourselves to regain some of this ability we all struggle to sustain in modern life. It also allows us to be aware of our thoughts and feelings both on a mental and physical level instead of just keeping our focus on external stimulus. Keeping our focus in the present and not on distractions will help us both on and off the mat and is one of the greatest benefits from a consistent practice, be it for 5 minutes in silence or an hour-plus yoga class.

Whilst you're focusing on this post...maybe now is a good time to shut down your app or social media browser to stop the doom scrolling that is often one of the most negative effects we can have on our focus and attention span? πŸ™ƒ

Yesterday I uploaded my first ever YouTube Yoga Class. I managed to start off this process over the festive period and am hoping to upload classes each week from 15 to 60 minutes to help both my existing students get an extra session in if they want to and to reach others potentially around the world, which is pretty crazy to think, like my weekly Sound Bath videos already do. I'm really grateful for everyone who has supported me in the last few years in my Yoga Teaching. It isn't something I would have seen myself doing if I looked back five years ago, but I have truly found something I love and am now even reducing my engineering day job to focus more on this part of my life, which is also amazing to say.

With these particular videos, I spent months trying to get the courage to upload a class online, but self-doubt held me back. It's definitely something that makes you doubt yourself in hearing your own voice repeatedly into a microphone, watching the little ticks you have that people likely don't even notice and just feeling that putting yourself out there on a world platform with TV-level production values and decades of experience from other channels can be pretty scary. That being said, if you don't start somewhere, you will never get better, and I'm pretty happy with this first session, so please check it out!

When starting online platforms, especially with YouTube, it is a massive help to support the channel if it is shared with people subscribing to the channel, liking the videos and commenting on them too. This helps feed the monster that is the online algorithms and would really help me massively to release these videos each week in 2026 by increasing the reach of each one. It may seem like a small act in helping me in just pressing a couple of digital screen buttons in subscribing and liking the videos (hopefully even taking the class 😁), but it would be massively appreciated if possible!
You can find the channel here: https://m.youtube.com/

Thank you again for an amazing 2025 last year, and this is just the start of what I am hoping to provide for people this year. Some more on future plans in the coming weeks though... 🧐

All the best,

This year, do you need to set yourself a goal or New Year's resolution?

It can be great to set an intention in your life, but a well-intentioned goal can quickly become a serious negative burden for you. We often set extravagant goals of achieving everything we could ever ask for in a short, unrealistic time period that, when we take a step back and look at it, is very hard to achieve. It is commendable to want to change our lives and push for a difficult target in our lives, but it may be better to set smaller goals that are more realistic that we then slowly progress towards rather than only having a huge target that seems unattainable month after month in 2026.

I have always had a massive drive to push myself to the limit in trying to achieve everything as fast as possible, be the best I can be in a short period of time, and put a huge amount of self-worth into this mindset. It's only been the last 1-2 years that I've tried to take a more relaxed approach to this. It is nice to set goals, but sometimes these restrict us from what life naturally allows to come across our path, meaning we can't take opportunities or new routes due to our self-imposed targets and goals we have already filled our schedules with to achieve. Last year my world was turned upside down, and it's only been since this that I have been able to take a step back and see what comes around in life to do my best to let go of control with the mindset of GOING WITH THE FLOW of whatever comes about. It's a bit scary at times to not have a path with this big goal and achievement at the end of the road, but I have already had so many side roads and unexpected things appear as a result of not having this big push for this stupidly unattainable goal. Letting the blinkers drop from this hyperfocus and opening my eyes to everything around me. Having my own back and hand to hold with whatever comes significantly reduces the pressure I have put myself under in the past, and this is what I want from my 2026. Maybe this way to progress through 2026 may help you too?

Hi all,

For those who don't know me, I am a Yoga Teacher based in Dorchester specialising in Yin Yoga. I teach with a more science/anatomy mindset whilst honouring the traditional elements within Yoga as a practice. That being said, I don't take myself too seriously and like to make sure that it is a relaxed and fun environment whilst also allowing us to push ourselves when needed and relax fully throughout the session. Alongside my advanced Yoga Teacher Certification, I am also a certified Breathwork/Pranayama Specialist, and undertake weekly Sound Bath sessions.

Common misconceptions about attending a Yoga class:
1. "I'm not flexible enough to do yoga." - You don't have to be flexible to do yoga; if anything, it shows you would likely benefit from the physical side of the practice if you aren't very flexible at the moment.

2. "I'm worried everyone will be watching how bad I am." - Others aren't likely to know what's going on beyond the four corners of their own mat and, even if they do, won't be judging each other, as comparison is the thief of joy. It isn't a sport or a competition but a very nice community of people before and after the practice. During it, everyone is focused on themselves.

3. "I'm too old to start yoga." - You're never too old to start anything. The benefits, mentally and physically, from trying something new at any time in our lives are huge. This is one of the reasons Yoga can be so beneficial for everyone, but these benefits are often increased as we get older and want to improve strength, balance and flexibility.

4. "It's just for women." - I guess as a male yoga teacher I show this isn't the case, and originally it was a practice exclusively for men. I get this type of message or concern a lot from men about coming along. Yoga is for everyone, but if concerned, there'll always be at least one man in my classes to join you...me.

I currently teach in Dorchester, Portesham and Upwey each week. I provide mats and props for free once you have booked onto a class. You can book onto any of my sessions via my website here: https://gymcatch.com/app/provider/7338/events

My current class timetable until the end of 2025 will be as shown. The recent change has been to make both of my Dorchester classes donation-based sessions so you can pay what you feel is right for the class.

I provide everything for my classes that you need, from mats to props. All you need to do is book your place onto a class via my booking site here: https://gymcatch.com/app/provider/7338/events

These include sessions in Dorchester, Upwey, and Portesham each week.

In the spring I will be undertaking a new session in Dorchester, which I will be announcing with more detail soon. I can't wait to tell you more as the plans are finalised on timings, but it will be yet another donation-based class to have the option to attend!

We live in a busy world. We can become carried away with keeping on keeping on, seeking distraction, and find ourselves in a state of constant stress. This can mean we miss our surroundings. From bird songs, the sound of the wind in the trees or the sun rising and setting. We become strangers to ourselves. Missing any form of connection, both physically and mentally, as we continue with distraction and become too busy to just stop and take in who/what we are at any given time.

This is one of the reasons that slowing down through meditation, Yin Yoga, or Sound Baths can be so rewarding yet so challenging for a lot of us. When forced to just stop and be present with minimal distraction, we can feel as though we're in an alien environment as we sit with our senses physically and with our thoughts. Those thoughts can be what we've failed to acknowledge. What we've wished to run from. A fear of accepting where we are and why we are like we are? This can be truly daunting at times, but with practice and dedication, we can develop this way of slowing down and assessing ourselves. Allowing a connection to who we are to be a regular habit we appreciate each day. Slowly finding ourselves less of a stranger to be around and more of a friend. The benefits of allowing this time to ourselves, to become accepting of how we are there and then, can be one of the most rewarding parts of this time we can have alone on our mat or as a group in a class. Letting yourself discover you again and loving yourself for who you are is an incredibly important part of life that so many of us miss out on in the day-to-day.

So, make a promise to yourself for yourself. Dedicate some time this week to set aside to be present without music in your noise-cancelling headphones, without the distraction of phone doom scrolling, and to concentrate on the present moment. It could be for 2 minutes at the start of your day, or it could be through a type of class that facilitates this...but I urge you to just try it and keep the practice of becoming comfortable in being with yourself a regular habit. Enjoy.

Did you know that alongside my Yoga Teaching, I'm also recording weekly Sound Baths? It's been a work in progress for a year now and each week progressively improving the video quality in addition, and most importantly, the sound quality.

I generally record them using Himalayan Singing Bowls as shown in this photo BUT also have some coming using the Crystal Singing Bowls I use in my weekly in person Yin Yoga and Sound Bath sessions in Dorchester which are Donation Based classes.

If you want to follow my progress with these videos then you can subscribe to my channel which will let you know when I next release a video, and also massively help me to increase my following on YouTube!
