My Sunday spent playing grown-ups...

Boys went golfing so I had the house to myself

Thought I'd be a responsible adult & do my physio even though it feels like my body is shouting a firm "Not on my watch, lady!"

Then I decided to stop being a lazy moo & dragged out the rebounder for a mini bounce- nothing too grand, 5 minutes gentle lymphatic routine. Pretty sure Joe Wicks isn't going to be beating my door down any time soon

Snuggled in for some self-healing...
And fell asleep

Woke up to the sound of the bathroom door creaking open like some low budget horror film. Full heart-stopping moment as I was alone in the house 😱

- It was the dog looking for humans
Who then started barking because apparently he knows when it's walk time better than any clock

Anyway
I guess what I'm saying is

Not every healing day has to look profound

If your self-care looks like a cocktail of chaos & good intentions- that's still good enough

This week has reminded me just how closely our bodies, minds, energy, & nervous systems are linkedIf you've been feeling...

This week has reminded me just how closely our bodies, minds, energy, & nervous systems are linked

If you've been feeling a bit stuck & feel like you'd like to start tuning in a bit more, don't overthink it

Just pick ONE thing-

• your breathing
• your body
• what's around you

And pay attention to it
Actually notice it for a minute or two

No fixing
No analysing

Just noticing

It's a small thing
But it slows the world down
And changes more than you'd think

Finally feeling like a space I want to be in

It's not "finished" yet
It'll never be "finished"
It's an energetic space that will shift & change & grow as we go along

But it already feels different

🤔 Isn't it funny how your environment shifts your energy without you really noticing...

Do you have environments that stress you out?

Safe, comfortable, welcoming, comforting...?

Because when you start noticing it, it changes things more than you'd think

Are you midway-yay or midway-nay? 🙂/😞

I've been putting things in place & definitely feeling progression 💪so I'm currently in camp midway-yay 🥳

But if your week feels like it's falling on it's bum
This is your heads-up...
What's one small, achievable thing you can do to help point you back in the right direction?

If your midweek feels good, that's great!

If your midweek feels a bit messy...

It's ok to go gently
- It's not a race
It's ok if your progress looks different to mine

Remember when my little room looked like this 💣💥?

This photo pretty much represents my body & my brain over the past few weeks or so...

Too many tabs open
Not enough spoons
Body & brain just not cooperating with even the basics

The thing is we're human
We all experience times like this

And if you're currently knee-deep in your "bare walls & floorboards" season-

You are not alone
This WILL pass
You are stronger than you think

I promise

If things feel a bit complicated, or a bit all over the place...

Come back to basics

Not a full routine
Not ten different things (🤚this is me!)
Just start here...

•Sit down & slow your breathing for a few minutes
•Put your hands on your body & just rest them there for a while
•Notice where your body feels tight, tired, or loud instead of ignoring it

You don't need to already have all the answers to start listening

Small, consistent things done carefully & with intention will always get you further than big things you can't keep up with

I've been thinking about that "too many tabs open" feeling (see a couple or so posts ago if you're not sure what I mean)

Thing is, for me, right now that's definitely part of it
But I'm also realising it's not just that

When your body's not functioning properly ( as mine isn't right now)
it takes up more space than you think

Not always loudly
But it's there in the background
Nagging
Draining

So I've stopped trying to do more, think more, figure out more...

And I've gone right back to basics
To the very foundations of my healing
practice

Because they're so flipping effective
They work

•Resting when my body's clearing asking for it
•Slowing my breathing & lowering my shoulders
•Placing my hands where things feel " off" & letting the energy just do its thing

- My body (& mind) - more settled
- My mobility - much better
And the walking stick's gone back into retirement 🥳

Nothing magic
Nothing extreme
Just listening
And responding a bit differently

Which is exactly the sort of thing I'll be offering here...
(And apparently something I need to remind myself to offer myself too! 🙃)

Things I would've brushed off as random- I'm noticing more

Patterns
Little signals
Things that don't feel quite right but never seemed "enough" to pay attention to

I don't have all the answers
I'm definitely not rushing for another label
But I am paying attention in a way I didn't before

My body's been giving me messages all along
Turned out I wasn't listening 🫣

I'm listening now
Let's see what's being said 💖

I always think I need to do more

Get more done
Sort more things
Make more progress

But really all that happens is I end up
Too many "tabs open"
Spinning too many plates

And the more I juggle,
The less anything actually moves!

So,
Maybe it's less about doing more

And
More about giving ONE thing my FULL attention 🤔

(Which is a task in itself! - wish me luck!)
