Just before we step into a new magical world of pretend play, it’s important that we all enjoy a good night’s sleep. 💤

Together we say, “Let’s get into bed with a one step, a two step. Pull the duvet up to your head, put your head on the pillow, and say good night.” 🌙

The little routines and moments of playfulness that follow, children giggling as they try to wake me, telling me I’ve been snoring, or reminding me, “It’s too early, back to bed!” What I love most is seeing their excitement as they wonder where our imagination will take us today. 💭

How does our ‘People Who Help Us’ topic build real life skills? 🤔

Today, we stepped into the shoes of doctors, caring for others and exploring the world of pretend play.

Role play naturally nurtures empathy, when children become someone else, they begin to see the world through that person’s eyes. It also strengthens communication skills, as children experiment with new vocabulary and interact using the language of different community helpers, whether they’re doctors, firefighters, or builders.

Through these playful moments, children develop essential listening skills and powerful non-verbal communication, learning to express and understand ideas, feelings, and intentions through facial expressions, gestures, posture, and body language.

Drama teaches life skills! ⭐️

🚒 Surprise shift at the fire station today!

We unexpectedly found ourselves in charge, and the children rose to the challenge brilliantly. Their communication skills were fantastic as they checked over their equipment and worked together like true firefighters.

A special well done to the children in charge of the water, they listened carefully for the go ahead and expertly turned the hose on and off while we mended the holes.👏

Brilliant teamwork, firefighters you were all so brave! 🔥👩‍🚒

This week we travelled to Unicorn Land 🦄 and the children’s kindness has shone bright. Their hearts were as big as their imaginations! 💭

‘Rainbows’ have shown incredible engagement this week, stepping into roles with confidence and expressing empathy. Their enthusiasm for helping others, joining in with actions, listening carefully, and following instructions has been truly fantastic to watch. 🌈 Bravo Rainbows!

It’s Road Safety Week, and our 2–4 year olds have been busy learning all about staying safe near roads through stories, movement, and drama! We’ve explored the Green Cross Code in a memorable, meaningful and very fun way alongside our dogs.

After enrolling our furry friends into Dog School, we learned the ‘Stay Safe Song’ and used movement sequences to explore safe places to cross the road.

Together we remembered to:
🛑 STOP
👀 LOOK
👂 LISTEN

‘Rainbows’ have done an amazing job helping their dogs graduate from Dog School and learn where it’s safe to cross. 🐶🚦

🚦Calling all KS1 teachers!🚦

Woof on the Roads is an interactive performance that helps children stay safe, have fun, and learn through drama! 🐾

This 50-minute session is packed with stories, movement, imagination, and learning, helping children understand road safety in a way that really sticks.

Road safety is vital all year round, but with Road Safety Week just around the corner, I’d love to offer 3 schools a FREE performance in 2026.

Delivered by Pyjama Drama Central Worcestershire, this empowering session helps children make safe, confident choices for life.

👷‍♀️This week we kicked off our ‘People Who Help Us’ topic!👨‍🔧

We’ve been exploring what it’s like to be builders, mending our garden wall while practising our counting, building a new kennel for our dog (with a fun rhyme to go along!), and getting creative by painting the King’s front door! 🎨👑

Of course, we’ve had to take a few well earned tea breaks too... it’s hard work being a builder! ☕🧱

I can’t wait to try out more exciting job roles this term! 💼🩺

When I started my Pyjama Drama journey two years ago, I offered a free Bonfire Night taster session to introduce my classes.

At that time, I worked with 3 nurseries. Fast forward to last week when I taught 14 classes! 🎉

Sometimes it’s easy to forget to celebrate progress, but looking back makes me feel incredibly proud and thankful to work with wonderful settings, children and families and of course being a part of the amazing Pyjama Drama HQ team! ❤️

Thank you to everyone who’s been part of this journey, here’s to more laughter, imagination, and pretending! 🤩
