Almost the weekend. You can feel it, can’t you?

That soft exhale in your chest.
The part of you that’s ready to slow down.
To be warmed right through.
To breathe deeper.
To come back to yourself.

The sauna is waiting.
The steam is gentle.
The cold is clear and honest.
And for a little while… nothing else is asked of you.

Weekend plans, sorted. ♨️❄️

Thank you to everyone who made it out to Bask so far this month. It’s been truly wonderful to meet new faces and reconnect with Baskers who supported me before the move to

Mornings are pretty special here the light and wildlife often make me stop and take in the moment, giving me time to ponder over the past few weeks. Recently I’ve been getting asked this a lot…

“Why does the cold plunge feel harder than getting into the sea or a loch?”

And honestly – you’re not imagining it.

A plunge is still.
No waves. No slow wading. No distraction.

You step in and your whole nervous system meets the cold at once.

In wild water, your mind is busy – the horizon, the movement, the sound, the feeling of travelling forward. There’s a story happening around you.

In a plunge, there’s nowhere to go but inward.

It asks you to pause.
To breathe.
To feel your feet.
To soften your shoulders.

It’s quiet. Direct. Intimate.

Not better. Not worse.
Just different.

Both are powerful.
They simply work on us in little different ways.

And sometimes… the stillness is the bravest part.

🤍

I wonder how many other saunas out there have a sauna cat?? If you do please take a picture and add to comments! 🐈 Introducing Chancer, a well known feline feature but new to the sauna. He tends to visit first thing in the morning and at the later sessions. If you lucky you might get to see him one day ❤️🐈

It was important to me that every part of Bask was chosen with care. Including something as simple as the bucket.

Copper isn’t just beautiful to look at. It heats the water quickly and evenly, which creates a softer, deeper löyly when it meets the stones. Not harsh or shocking, but smooth, warm steam that settles into your body.

It’s also kinder to the stones, reducing sudden temperature stress and helping them last longer.

Copper is naturally hygienic, durable, and designed to be used for years to come, rarely needing replacement. It doesn’t fight the elements — it ages beautifully alongside them.

And there’s tradition too. For generations, copper has been part of sauna culture, particularly prominent in Turkish Hammams. Natural materials, doing their job quietly and well.

At Bask, details matter.
Because how something feels is just as important as how it works.

I don’t run back-to-back sessions at Bask – and it’s very intentional.

There’s always a little breathing space of half an hour between guests. Time to get changed slowly, warm up or cool down properly, and land back in your body without feeling rushed out the door.

It leaves room for real chats, quiet moments, and those small human connections that turn a sauna visit into something more than just a booking.

And behind the scenes, it means I can filter the baths, clean the sauna, reset the space, and make sure it looks and feels just as beautiful for the next people as it did for the first.

Because how something feels matters to me.
Not rushed. Not crowded. Not conveyor-belt wellness.

Just calm, care, and a little bit of space to breathe. ✨

✨ Why we chose the Harvia Legend 150 for our sauna, it was a decision based on having the smallest impact but with the biggest benefits✨

There’s a kind of peace that comes from a fire that works with the wood, not against it. The Harvia Legend 150 wood-burning stove is simple, honest, and wonderfully respectful of the elements — just the way we like it. 🌲🔥

💛 Efficient, cleaner burning — its clever air-flow and grate design help the wood burn more completely, meaning cleaner combustion and more heat from each log. That’s a little kindness to the forest and to the woodpile too.

🪵 Big stone capacity = deep, long-lasting heat — Legend holds a generous amount of sauna stones around 240kg, the stone cage runs down the back sides and top of stove, soaking up warmth and giving it back slowly and richly. The more stones, the softer, deeper löyly when you pour — and heat that lingers beautifully between burns.

🔥 Lasting warmth, less fuss — once it’s fired up, the stove and stones hold heat that doesn’t rush away. That means fewer wood loads and more time in that warm, gentle glow.

📏 Thoughtful safety design — Harvia’s manuals note that the Legend’s clearances and protective sheath options allow shorter safety distances. Win win 🏆

This stove doesn’t just heat our sauna — it holds space for quiet, slow heat, fewer resources, and deeper breaths.

🌿 Warmth that works with nature.
🔥 Heat that stays.
❤️ Sauna lived slowly.

When I created Bask, it really mattered to me that it was as gentle on the earth as it is on the body 🌿

Even our bath water is cared for with intention. I keep it beautifully clean through regular filtration (sometimes even during sessions) and a natural, non-toxic enzyme system with a three-stage process that keeps the water clear, balanced and hygienic.

The result?
💧 Fewer water changes
✨ Crystal-clear, fresh tubs
🌱 And wastewater that’s clean enough to nourish plants

Small choices, made with care — for your wellbeing and for the planet.
