💚 Tilly 💚

This beautiful sweet girl is Tilly. I regularly visit her to trim her nails. Would you believe she is nearly 20??? 😱😱 She really is doing amazing for her age and is such a good girl. She is a nervous kitty but I think I'm starting to win her round. Here are some pics of her enjoying her post nail clip treat in her beautiful garden. A common myth - You should use luke warm water to cool a dog showing signs of heatstroke.

Yep this is definitely a myth! If your dog is showing signs of distress/heatstroke move to a cool area and start active cooling immediately!

Immerse in cold water if possible (and safe, you will need to make sure dogs head is above water and at no risk going under). If not cool with cold running water (if from a hose make sure water has run through and is cold)

Get someone to call your vet for advice and to tell them you will be coming.

Use an air conditioned vehicle to transport them to the vet.

Do not drape wet towels over them.

Why I do what I do 😊

As you all know I used to work in practice, in fact the same practice throughout my student years. I worked in an amazing team and truly loved my job. I loved all aspects of nursing but really came into my own when running nurse consults. My clients then and now know how much I love a good natter 🤣🙈.

My children came along and well, yes your priorities do change. I wanted to be there for the after school clubs, the school plays etc. So I made the leap into setting up my little buisness offering non clinical home visits. I could see a real need for this in my local area.

Obviously as a Veterinary Nurse I have a passion for all things animal, and having that clinical background really does help when advising my clients. I absolutely love love love meeting my lovely clients and their beautiful pets its the best part. I am starting to get a good few regulars now and I always look forward to seeing them.

I'm looking forward in the future to growing my buisness and offering even more services 😊💚🐾🐹🐱🐶🐰🐾

"My pet hates the vets, will you be able to manage the nail clip?"

This is one of the questions I get asked a lot. And to be perfectly honest I don't ever really know the answer and if I will manage. I do work alone so having an owner that can hold secure really does help. I've also found that pets are way more relaxed in their own home environment. I use dog/cat friendly techniques and will never over stress your pet. I treat every animal as an individual and take time to assess their temperaments to create a plan of action.
Sometimes yes it can't be done and I may refer you to your vet to talk about a chill protocol to reduce the stress of a visit.

We are aware of a few videos circulating social media at the moment regarding ibuprofen ingestion in dogs.

Ibuprofen is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). It is commonly used in people for the relief of pain and inflammation associated with aches and pains, headache, cramps and for the relief of mild fever.

Ibuprofen is a very widely available over-the-counter painkiller. Although well tolerated in people, dogs are very sensitive to ibuprofen and ingestion of even a relatively low dose can cause adverse effects on the gut and the kidneys. A very large overdose can even cause very rapid onset features including convulsions.

💚 Clarence 💚

I visited beautiful Clarence at home today to clip some mats out of his fur. As you can see he is a stunning boy and was an angel to do.

My grooms are only for hygiene purposes, I can trim mats, furry toes, and bottoms if need be but I'm not a proffesional groomer.

💚 Wheelz 💚

I cannot express how much I fell for this handsome dude. I visited Wheelz at home first his first nail clip and he was such a good boy. Wheelz is a rescue and had a bit of a rough start in life. A nervous boy but he trusts his mom so much. With a bit of reassurance (and plenty treats 😋) he was a superstar.
