Early diagnosis of cancer is vital; detecting a problem early on can mean that treatment is more effective.

Cancer experts will be visiting locations across Birmingham, the Black Country and Solihull on a bus dedicated to providing health checks and important screening information about cancer.

The bus aims to give our local communities the opportunity to not only catch any warning signs of cancer as early as possible, but it will also be a chance for people to talk to a host of professionals, from the NHS to MacMillan Cancer Support and Diabetes UK.

At the cancer bus, NHS staff and our partners will share signs to look out for, how to live the healthiest possible life and signpost you to useful services.

🌿 Stress Awareness Month 🌿

This morning, our Practice Manager Becky took some time for a peaceful mental health walk around Saltwells Nature Reserve — a beautiful green space just a stone’s throw from Dudley Wood Surgery.

The bluebells are out at the moment, creating a stunning carpet of colour — definitely worth a visit if you get the chance 🌸

It’s a great reminder that sometimes the simplest things can make the biggest difference. Taking time out, even for a short walk, can really help reset your mind and improve your wellbeing.

💬 “In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks.” – John Muir

💚 How getting out in nature can help reduce stress:
• Lowers cortisol (your stress hormone)
• Improves mood and reduces anxiety
• Helps clear your mind and improve focus
• Encourages gentle physical activity
• Boosts overall mental wellbeing and resilience

If you’re feeling overwhelmed, why not take a moment for yourself and explore what’s right on your doorstep?

🩺 Helping us keep your records safe and accurate

At Dudley Wood Surgery, we’re making a small improvement to how patients and carers submit health information (such as blood pressure readings).

To ensure your information is recorded safely and linked to the correct patient, we kindly ask that all submissions are made using one of the following:

✔️ Our secure online form
✔️ An official Dudley Wood Surgery template (available at reception)

Please remember to include:
• Patient name
• Date of birth

💡 Need help?
If you’re unable to use these options, our reception team will be happy to assist you.

These changes help us process your information more quickly and reduce the risk of errors—supporting safer care for everyone.

📢 Dudley Wood Surgery – March 2026 Newsletter 📢

If you didn’t get a chance to read our March newsletter in the surgery, here’s a quick summary of our latest updates 👇

🌼 Welcome to Aruna – We’re delighted to introduce our new Nurse Practitioner, Aruna, who has already become a friendly and supportive face in the surgery.

💬 Join our Patient Participation Group (PPG) – We’re still looking for new members who would like to share feedback and help shape our services.

🚗 Parking Reminder – Please be mindful not to block our neighbours’ driveways. Thank you for helping us maintain good relationships within our community.

📅 Appointments Update – Reviews by Birth Month
You spoke, we listened! To reduce the number of visits throughout the year, most annual reviews and tests will now be carried out around your birth month (with blood tests usually the month before where needed). This should make managing your health simpler and more convenient.

📱 NHS App Open Day (Coming Soon!)
We’re planning a Saturday open day to help patients download and use the NHS App, with refreshments available and a small charity fundraiser. More details to follow soon!

🌍 Health & Wellbeing Campaigns (April)
We’ll be supporting a range of important campaigns including World Health Day, Autism Awareness, Immunisation Week, and more.

💚 Thank You
We really appreciate your continued support and look forward to making further improvements to our services over the coming year.

If you have any questions or would like to get involved, please contact the surgery.
