Farewell and Happy Retirement!

We would like to personally congratulate Janice on her retirement after 10 years service. We have all enjoyed working with Janice during her time here, and we considered her not only to be a valuable asset to our company, but she has been a fantastic support to our service users throughout her time with DGMHA.

Janice you will be missed by all of us, but you certainly deserve your retirement. Your hard work, long service and dedication have greatly benefited our services users, thank you! 💙

Job Opportunity: Finance Officer

Location: Dumfries (on-site)

Hours: Up to 35 hours per week (part-time considered)

Salary: £35,000 – £42,000 per annum (FTE, dependent on experience)

We are looking for a Finance Officer who combines accuracy and attention to detail with the ambition to develop into a senior finance leader. You will take responsibility for managing the day-to-day finance operations and for producing accurate, timely financial information, supported by in-house and external training as required.

You will report directly to the CEO and play an active role in the management of Board meetings and wider corporate governance. Over time, you will progress to full responsibility for the finance function, contributing directly to the strategic and operational leadership of the charity.

To succeed, you will bring integrity, discretion, and professionalism, together with strong communication skills and a commitment to our values of accountability, openness, and care in serving our community.

🎱 Competitive Fun at Castle Douglas 🎱

For Mental Health Day we decided to have a fun day in our HMO in Castle Douglas. Some of our service users took part in a pool competition mediated by staff.

Sometimes the simplest of pranks are the most effective, does that pool chalk smell funny? 🤪

After a fun filled, and somewhat intense pool competition, an unexpected underdog took the title 👏

We decided to get those brains working and our service users got stuck into the quiz. Of which there was topics for everyone, science, history, geography and pop culture containing questions on movies, music and comics.

There was music and laughter 😁

As keeping the brain active has positive effects on a person’s mental health I decided what better prizes to give out that puzzle books, adult colouring in books and of course sweeties.

😃 Quiz Games & Food for World Mental Health Day 😃

On Friday 10th October, for World Mental Health day, our service users at Craigshields joined together and participated in a group general knowledge quiz. Barrie took first place with Ian coming in at a close second, both winning some chocolate treats. As a whole everyone done very well. 👏

A lovely buffet from Marchbank Bakers was purchased for the service users for lunch and they all commented on how delicious it was.

Service users had some staff up singing and dancing afterwards, giving them all a good laugh at the lack of rhythm and pitch the staff may have displayed... 😆

An enjoyable afternoon for all💚

On behalf of everyone at DGMHA, we would like to give a huge thank you for the incredible generosity shown at the Family Fun Day , raising money for our charity in memory of Daniel (Goof) Blackwood.

Your event was a true celebration of love, laughter and community coming together for a cause that touches so many lives and was a beautiful tribute to your friend Daniel's memory.

Thank you to everyone who organised, attended, donated and supported the day and thank you for choosing DGMHA.

Your support will make a difference to the lives of those who use our services, providing new experiences and activities to enable and encourage those to lead a purposeful and fulfilling life.

Finance Officer

Dumfries and Galloway Mental Health Association (DGMHA) is seeking a Finance Officer to oversee day-to-day financial operations and support the charity’s long-term sustainability. Reporting to the CEO, you will take responsibility for ledgers, reconciliations, and payments, assist with monthly management accounts, budgets, and forecasts, and play an active role in Board reporting and corporate governance.

We are looking for someone AAT qualified or part-qualified ICAS/ACCA/CIMA with bookkeeping and management accounts experience, strong Excel and system skills, and a commitment to integrity and professional development. In return we offer a salary of
£35,000 – £42,000 FTE,

professional training and development, and the opportunity to work at the heart of a values-driven organisation making a real difference in Dumfries & Galloway.
