I used to dread shopping for parties. 🙈

Trying on clothes meant stress — “Does this hide the things I hate? Will it even fit?”

I’d buy something just to get it over with.

The last time was different. I enjoyed it. The outfits fit. I felt confident. I felt good in my own skin.

That’s what Phase 1 of SHIFT, Settle & Stabilise, is all about: stopping self-blame, understanding why your body resists, rebuilding metabolic and emotional safety, and reconnecting with yourself instead of overriding your body.

55 years of life, and today I’m celebrating with movement. 🎂✨

I’m spending my birthday in the gym not because I have to, but because I get to.

To me, exercise isn’t a punishment for what I ate or a chore to check off—it’s a celebration of what my body is capable of right now.

Today’s focus: Functional Movement. I’m laying the foundations today so that my 80-year-old self can move with the same grace and independence I have now. Being active at 55 is a privilege and a joy I don’t take for granted. 🥂💪

I’ve officially transitioned from Wellness Moma to Neema Coaching.

Wellness is great, but for the women I work with—women like us, aged 30 to 55—‘wellness’ has become a bit of a fluff word. It doesn’t address the fact that your metabolism has changed and you’re stuck in a frustrating yo-yo cycle.

I’ve been beavering away behind the scenes with my business coach to bring you something more powerful, more professional, and more effective than ever before.

While I have loved our time as Wellness Moma, my mission has grown. I’ve realised that for women aged 30-55, "wellness" is often too vague. You don't just want to "feel better"—you want a body that works with you, a metabolism that’s fired up, and a permanent end to the exhausting yo-yo diet cycle.

Why Neema Coaching?

"Neema" represents grace and prosperity. In our world, that means achieving your health goals without the stress, the starvation, or the "all-or-nothing" madness.

What’s changing?

This is me 👋

Not a “naturally disciplined” person.
Not someone who’s had it easy with her body.
And definitely not someone who believes in quick fixes.

I’m a woman in my 50s who:
• spent years stuck in the diet → slip → guilt → restart cycle
• watched her confidence slowly erode
• believed weight gain was just “what happens” with age, hormones, and life

Stop thinking protein is just “gym food.”
It’s actually your metabolic thermostat. 🔥

For YEARS I was stuck in the same loop many of you are in right now…

Lose weight ✔️
Feel lighter ✔️
Still unhappy with how my body looked ❌

I lost 16kg by tracking my calories & moving more and
The scale went down… BUT when I stepped on a Tanita, my physique score was a 2.
👉 Over-fat. Under-muscled.

That was my wake-up call.

What I hadn’t realised is that when you undereat protein, your body doesn’t just lose fat — it sacrifices muscle.

And muscle is what keeps your metabolism switched ON.

Here’s the science part that changed everything for me 👇
• Protein has the highest Thermic Effect of Food
• Your body burns 20–30% of protein calories just digesting it
• It also suppresses ghrelin — the hunger hormone that makes dieting miserable

So I stopped chasing less food…
and started focusing on enough protein + strength training.

The result?
✔️ I didn’t regain weight
✔️ My body shape changed
✔️ My Tanita score moved from 2 → 5 (balanced, healthy body)
✔️ And yes — this happened during perimenopause

Look at your plate today.

Let’s talk about identity.

A “dieter” is temporary.
A Healthy Person is permanent.

When you shift from saying:
“I can’t have that,”

to saying:

“I choose not to have that right now because I want energy,”

your brain moves from lack → authority.

Curiosity replaces guilt.

Next time you slip up, don’t shame yourself.
Ask yourself:
• What was I feeling before that happened?
• Was I actually hungry, or just stressed or tired?
• How does my body feel now?

Your journey becomes an experiment, not a test.
Your brain starts learning what works — without emotional weight.

Stop waiting for next Monday to ‘start over.’ 🛑

Most women in the yo-yo cycle treat a missed workout or a weekend treat like a total failure.
