Homemade baked beans made with simple, real ingredients.
By making them yourself, you stay in control of the sugar, avoid ultra-processed additives, and get all the benefits of fibre and plant protein from the beans.
They’re easy to batch cook and freeze, making them a practical family staple that supports digestion, energy, and growing bodies — without the unnecessary extras found in most shop-bought versions.
Real food, made simple.
1 x 400g tin of haricot/navy beans or another white bean, drained and rinsed
1 tbsp double concentrate tomato paste
200ml passata
1 tbsp unrefined sugar
1 tbsp honey
1 tsp apple cider vinegar
1/2 tsp smoked paprika
1/4 tsp onion powder
1/4 tsp garlic powder
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp white pepper
1/2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
30-50ml water
In a saucepan over a medium heat add the tomato paste, passata, unrefined sugar, honey, vinegar, smoked paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, salt and pepper. Mix well with a wooden spoon. Next, add the Worcestershire sauce and the water. Simmer for five minutes, stirring occasionally, until slightly thicker. Add the drained and rinsed white beans and stir to cook them in the sauce. Simmer gently for another five minutes, allowing the flavours to blend. Adjust the seasoning if required. If the sauce is a little thick then add a splash of water. Serve.
